A bit too “casual” and by-the-numbers (things that could never be applied to the real RBG) but it’s impossible not to be engaged by this story, especially when the issues at hand (gender equality, white male privilege) are still very much relevant today. Felicity Jones is very good in the role, turning the icon into a fully realized individual worth rooting for, and she’s surrounded by a solid supporting cast (Armie Hammer continues his recent string of solid performances even though the script’s characterization of Marty never rises above The Perfect Husband). This is sure to be a crowd-pleasing hit when it goes wide: my audience applauded at certain moments and at the end. B
