I remember watching ABC election coverage in 2016 and when Trump started to do better than expected, George Stephanopolous said "Trump is definitely in the game." 

 

Well, Bohemian Rhapsody is definitely in the Oscar game.

I would have been less surprised to have seen Black Panther won. I liked Rhapsody enough but out of the nominees, it was the weakest.

To be fair, his firing from the film was widely publicized. Too bad it came at a point where the film was pretty much finished and he was obligated to get sole director credit.
