Intouchable was a a phenomenon. Praised  by critics and audience alike it opened huge then went on to become the 3rd highest grossing movie of all of time in France right below Avatar.

the Upside will be fine but don’t expect it to duplicate that success

So you're saying this wont pass Black Panther to become the third highest grossing film of all time?

That's a bold statement, Cotton.

ITSV set to beat MPR. Who saw that coming as recently as 1st half of December. MPR doing 3x ITSV seemed more likely than going under back then.

Thinking 175 for ITSV, 165 for MPR, 125 for BB

There's a chance that AQM beats ITSV + MPR = 340 but it needs the actuals to be above that 15.5 Deadline estimate by a couple.

Below TGS, despite opening x-hundred% above it.

I'm lost.....wtf is ITSV?

Upside over performed. Solid for Escape Room too. Nice to see Green Book increasing, hope it continues for a few weeks to come.

We have our first disaster flop of 2019: Replicas. A career low even for Keanu.

It was dumped, not marketed and has been on the black market for about a month now.

Some RT Audience scores (new releases should fluctuate and go down a few % eventually)

ITSV 94%

Dog's Way Home 89%

Upside 83%

AQM 80%

BB 79%

MPR 70%

On the basis of Sex 69% (Nice!)

Mule 67%

Replicas 43%

Escape Room 59%

Yeh, deadline said they still spent $10m+ in US TV spots alone for Replicas though. That’s still more than Upside.

Heck, people didn't see Aquaman beat MPR let alone ITSV. :hahaha:

Holy shit, this thread's so slow I thought I was mistaken it was Saturday and that I was late for school! :ohmygod:

Nice opening for The Upside (good for Cranston, boo for Hart), tepid for A Dog’s Way Home, and terrible as expected for Replicas.

Most of the holdovers are looking at rough drops this weekend. Guess the holidays were just helping a bunch of movies out.

Good expansion for On the Basis of Sex, which should end up with $30-35M. Also a decent expension for Beale Street.

15.5 for AQM is low-balling. Can't see bleow 16.5 and 17-18 is still possible,

4.5

7.9 (+75%)

5.1 (-35%)

= 17.5

I don't think so - full mid-country and mid-atlantic snowstorm is gonna hold down numbers...just ask Avatar back in the day when it opened on the 1st huge mid-Atlantic snow weekend...those areas don't know how to deal with snow, so folks stay home...especially when nothing screams "go out" to them, and a 4th weekend of a movie probably doesn't do that...

PS - and Deadline needs to rewrite the Dog's Way Home info...no way $11M+ OW on only an $18M budget is "tepid"...it will ride family numbers til Lego movie and make (probably) about 2xish its production budget on domestic performance alone by that point...that's a pretty good outing for a "premier" movie (since this isn't a sequel to last year - it's its own thing)...

Actually, I love the weekend...premier concepts doing well is the most fun time of the box office...sorry for Replicas, but you can't normally save a dump!

It’s an alright opening but it’s not gonna make much more than $40M at this point. Which is pretty middle of the road for this time of year. A Dog’s Purpose’s numbers two years ago were more impressive.
