I caught one of the sneak previews last night and it is a very, very funny movie. The trailers definitely do not spoil the best parts of the movie, not even close, as the Top 10, maybe even Top 20 funniest moments in the movie are not touched upon in the trailers. There is a scene in a car that was the funniest thing I have seen in a movie in a long time. It's definitely worth the price of admission if you're looking for a film to watch over Memorial Day weekend. It will easily be one of my Top 5 movies of the year.

Still at 100% Fresh after 65 reviews. How far will it go?

I think Lady Bird didn't get its first Rotten score until around 200 reviews were in so we'll see how long it takes for someone to break the trend. Beanie Feldstein: Queen of the Near Perfect RT Scores!

Richard Brody of the New Yorker delivers the first rotten review; but the film still stands tall at 99% Fresh after 87 reviews. The review count should almost double in the next 48 hours but a final score north of 95% is almost assured.

At this point I'm very much looking forward to this! I've been to a few comedies lately and realized that I'm starting to enjoy watching comedies in theatres again. When you're on a budget you tend to filter out all the movies that aren't essential viewing in a theatre and comedies were some of the casualties. Not lately.

Comedies, well good comedies, need to be seen in a theater more so than any other genre because of the infectious laughter and community experience when dozens and hundreds of people are simultaneously busting a gut. Comedies make for a great physical experience in addition to the visual and audio experiences they offer. It’s tough to replicate that at home.

A shame that this is a critically acclaimed movie and yet Annapurna has done such a shitty job with marketing it.

I imagine a studio like Focus could've gotten at least $30-40M out of it with a proper marketing campaign.

This is not Annapurna's first time botching a film's marketing. They need to hire new consultants.

This is a really good point. I shall remember that.

And there is a bit of self-realizing prophecy with attendance.

And other genre that often get lot better with a big audience: Jumpscare horror, fanboy-fangirls event movie, people love to go see horror in theater because there is a good crowd.

If comedy in theater were more popular it would make a virtuous circle I would imagine, because when people would have went see one, it would have been with a big laughing crowd and would re-go more, like they do with horror and franchise.
