The Panda

The 2019 BOFFY Awards - VOTING DEADLINE TODAY

Recommended Posts

@The Panda Whats the deadline? 11:59pm PST?

I’m still trying to get in a few movies today, but there are few others that I wont be able to see (some such as Roma due to no release in theatres/streaming here and others that I could see but there is no time left)

You’re good, I’m going off of Pacific Time but I’m also not being super stringent on the deadline.  As long as they’re in before I count up the noms

God damn, I voted for McKenzie, but even I'm starting to reconsider after listening to Ethan whine about it.

Loved McKenzie but it's another year where Actress is a bloodbath. Maybe I should've voted more strategically idk cause I know at least three of my picks 100% won't make the cut. But whatever.

It was weird how much insanely stronger Best Actress was than Best Actor for me this year. Maybe it's just the selection of films I watched, but I struggled to come up with 5 Best Actor performances I thought were worthy of a nom this year*, whereas with Best Actress I almost immediately had a shortlist of like 20 performances that I had to whittle down.

* (In the end, I ended up putting Tim Blake Nelson in my 5th slot for Buster Scruggs. Which, y'know, is fair enough because he's great in that movie, but he was also only in it for like 15-20 minutes.)

I've seen over 100 eligible movies and I still ended up with like 7 actors to choose from. (Ended up leaving out Matt Dillon and Lakeith Stanfield. Didn't seriously consider anyone else.) I think 2014 was the last really strong year for lead male performances. Been a serious disbalance ever since.
