Spike's shout to the costume lady was awesome. I wish there's an upset and he wins director but fat chance. Cuaron is locked.

That will probably be one of the most deserved wins of the night. The Black Panther costume design was some of the most inspired I've ever seen. Really happy it managed to beat the almost unbeatable period piece Oscar bait in that cat.

You know I speculated yesterday in the Best Picture thread that it might happen before it pulled off a surprise Best Picture win, and now I'm thinking it unfortunately will happen.

I just saw The Favourite last night ans I really don't want that to happen... Original Screenplay will probably be the saving grace though.

Agreed. It could still get Production Design and Original Screenplay, but losing Costume Design doesn't bode well given their tendency to go for period pieces.

 

It was a strong category this year, so it would have been tough to go wrong in Costumes. All the nominees had top-notch work.
