10 years? I still can't find anyone in my real life who can actually remember the name of the best picture winner LAST YEAR. lol.

It is not that hard to see how BR get in, 800m+ for a non-VFX/action movie? It is the highest grossing non-VFX fare of all time! Fueled by the insane leg of its run! 

 

And, why should the academy always listen to the critics? Critics don't own the oscar, Oscars do not have the obligation of compliant to critics's choice. And, BR is the rare occurrence that oscars don't agree with critics but for most of the time, about 90% of the films are endorsed by the critics. Shouldn't that be enough? Or critics just a bunch of elite that always see them as the definition of "Correctness"? No wonder Trump can win the election. Because the elite just refuse to communicate with the mass public, and all the social flow stuck.  

 

Critics vs Audience? In the case of BR, Oscar declare that audience is the winner, Period.

I certainly don’t agree with some of the nominees that the Oscars have chosen but I won’t deny that this is the first time in a while where I’ve talked to folks and they’re actually interested in the nominees. Usually they can name like 1 movie lol But I’ve talked to several classmates the last couple days and most of them have watched over half of the best picture nominees and plan to watch the ones they haven’t yet so they can pick which is their favorite.

BR is insanely beloved by GA and no amount of negative online articles/tweets/comments/reactions can convince me otherwise.

 

Which is why I find the tweet about Rami being forgotten for such iconic role stupid AF.

ITSV's combo of audience and critics reception, looking at the way it's holding up post Holidays I felt it would get a best Picture nomination. Don't mean to sound like a conspiracy theorists but do those who make a big portion of the Academy jury feel insecure about animations getting more limelight? They do push actors behind the scenes. You may recognise voices of already successful actors but the technical team and writers do get more credit in animation I feel.

Lmao at “Rami” being forgotten. An actor isn’t remembered for the awards they win but for the work they put out there. Besides the Oscars mostly award shitty non-factor movies/roles - which have no chance at being remembered since nobody has seen them to begin with. Bohemian Rhapsody grossed over 800 million and is LOVED by the general audience. It’s also attached to one of the biggest bands of all time. The movie and the role will certainly be remembered - with or without the Oscars (which are btw dying and decreasing in ratings every year).
