December 2022 doesn't have an Avatar sequel but what about one of those Rian Johnson SW movies?

Aquaman 2 can release in December even against Star Wars. Aquaman is big exactly in the same markets which don't like Star Wars, and domestically going against Star Wars should still yield 300M+. Aquaman doesn't actually have much to fear from Star Wars OS apart from Japan, the UK and Germany which was the same case with Mary Poppins as well anyway.  When Aquaman broke out big in Asia and South America, I think it was clear it can take on Star Wars OS easily.  Grow OS, keep domestic losses to Star Wars down, and Aquaman 2 can actually be the big global movie of the holidays if it takes on Star Wars.

It won’t though because WB will want Imax and large format screens for Aquaman and it can’t them since the Star Wars or Avatar movie will likely have first dibs on them

NO SW or Avatar movies perfect spot.

Disney does have a live-action film opening on the exact same day though. And looking at the signs, it's likely going to be the first movie in the Benioff & Weiss SW trilogy. It'll be interesting to see which movie will budge (probly Aquaman).
