Have seen quite a few people who have said this including critics and youtube reviewers. Maybe the problem was with the character of Carol and directing.

Thats just my opinion but the script/storyboard was the main problem for me. Brie just has not that much good material to work with. Shes a very good actress as shown in other movies, but the actor/actress cant just improvise everything into greatness.

Another example of that would be Kong: Skull Island where Brie Larson also plays an important role but the dialogue shes given is just cliche and by-the-numbers, making her and her role forgettable.

First marvel movie I found to be so underwhelming in terms of story telling, visuals, action and even performances..like everything was so bland. God knows how this got 80+ on RT.

If it makes you feel better the actual average score among all critics is about 69%.  This gets averaged up to 82-83% since RT generates the top number only looking at whether a review was overall positive or negative.

Check the details on all critic reviews, you’ll see this is what they do.  It’s not just CM obviously, you can go back for years and see many movies get their top line scores bolstered by 10-20%.

I’m not saying anything one way or the other or making any sort of value judgment, it’s how RT works.  Since you wondered.

I like both WW and Captain Marvel but to me none are unforgettable or have that masterpiece, classic seal to it.  There isn't yet a CBM with a female lead that i consider a 'classic'

If i could point to the best movie ever made and led by an actress it will be 'Nikita' in its original french version.

Anne Parillaud was outsanding and the movie remained to me, a female led action movie/drama masterpiece that hasn't yet approached but none other since its release !

This scene is already iconic though, I think people will always remember and love this movie

Ready to put this CM box office behind us. CM was awesome, and it’s going to be a huge success at the box office. I’m tired of the political b/s. Ready to move onto Endgame so we don’t have to discuss this stupid incel crap anymore.

Just off the top of my head

"Masterpieces"

Alien

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

Good to Great Entertainment

Long Kiss Goodnight

Kill Bill 1 & 2

Aliens

Jackie Brown

The River Wild

Widows

Plenty of masterpieces with female leads though that aren't action/adventure/thrillers

Dude, woah, woah, woah!  We have a ton of movies between CM and Endgame - can we talk about those, too:).  I'm here for Wonder Park (original animated is always something, even if it ends up sucking:) and Five Feet Apart next weekend, then Us, then Dumbo, then Shazam, maybe Hellboy, and then Endgame (I'll do 2 weeks of hype:)...

Um, what?

Nothing gets bolstered at all, that's not how RT works.

The RT-rating is entirely about whether the critic recommends the movie or not. It has very little to do with how good it was, only with how many people liked it. If every single critic gave a movie a 7/10, it would be at 100% at RT, even though no one loved the movie.

The RT-rating and the average score are two seperate things. The former gives you a general yes/no answer as a percentage from all critics. It's about how many critics liked the movie. The latter gives you the average of all ratings given by all critics, showing you how much the critics liked the movie on average.

Wrong. The reviewer determines whether the added review to RT is positive or negative. I don’t know how many times I’ve had to say this, but it’s hilarious to read how people still don’t get how Rotten Tomatoes works.

Personally, storywise, acting wise (the subtelity of the french language) i like 'NikKita' much more and think it is the template for female led action movies.  Parrillaud had a palette of emotions in that movie.

I also think european cinema, especially German, Italian and French, do 'film noir' much better.  I absouletly love the old european 'noirish' dramatic movies in that prospect.
