CAPTAIN MARVEL WEEKEND THREAD l $153M DOM (3rd-biggest March opening), $455M WW (6th biggest WW opening) l Other weekend #s: Dragon 14.7, Madea 12, Lego 3.8, Alita 3.2

ASIB should be at 214.6 after this weekend and BR at 215.3. Both are in freefall and I doubt the former will catch the latter even while making 2x more on the weekend, and neither will probably catch Ant-Man and the Wasp. But we'll see.

Unsure how this movie will perform today.

Its quite busier at my theater then yesterday but unsure if Women day will dampen any Saturday increase.

I would be more worried with the storms in the midwest. It's storming like a mofo here right now.

but every DC film

not enough to compare

I remember very heated discussions before Avengers 1 like ~ if there will be any chance to get IM, IHulk, Thor, and CA 1 under one umbrella (here a saying, I hope it makes sense).

The most doubted it, based on them being so different in tone, style and so on

Maybe this is an unpopular opinion but I would rather have someone be like The Rock and promote the hell out of movie regardless of how it is doing financially or critically than a movie star who hides away/is ashamed when their movie is not doing well.

I'm glad he promotes his stuff but I wouldn't. I remembered the Rock's social media meltdown when some of his movies flopped or were trashed by the critics. I think it was Baywatch and Skyscraper?

A more muted Friday than I had hoped for, especially based on those previews, but still a great number all in all for this movie. Based on true Friday, I'd anticipate a $52M to $53M Saturday.

I think he took it way overboard with Baywatch and that was a bit much but in general I'd rather have someone who happily promotes their films whether they're good or bad and whether they're failing at the box office or not.

Probably should have just stuck to my guns with my $140M-$160M prediction for Captain Marvel. It's looking to open right smack in the middle of that range. $150M+
