Just now, Rorschach said:

Han on the first night of writing his write-up:

am pretty sure that's just a post from the review thread. Spaghetti said a few pages back that if the designated write up person didn't submit their writeup, then spag would get a quote from RTM.

was Roma filmed in colour and then they just got computers to make it b&w in post production for added edginess and Artistic Merit? like Logan and FUry Road?

hack jobs.

It was digital and they choose to use it in color mode to make the CGI work with the greenscreen possible.

There was an article about it:

https://ascmag.com/articles/roma-memories-of-mexico

It was fully shot with B&W in mind production wise and what not.

I am a bit confused if you thought it was not from day one purely an aesthetic choice, did you think that it was for budget / camera weight or something of the sort ? Been a while that it tend to cost more to go for B&W than color.

Thanks for that information Barnack. This is why you deserved to win MVP.

And I meant that it is utterly pretentious and silly to make a black and white movie but make it in colour and do lazy conversion afterwards. I wonder if Roma had been in colour whether anyone would have taken it as seriously as some kind of artistic genius.

BEST PICTURE NOMINEE

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - FALLOUT

Image result for mission impossible fallout

Surpasses Ghost Protocol and Rogue Nation to become the best in the franchise and surpasses Infinity War to become the best action movie of the summer. Just an exhilarating experience full of terrific set pieces (my favorites: the bathroom fight and the helicopter climax) that feels much shorter than it's almost 2.5 hour running time, combined with a dynamite supporting cast (including a sinister Henry Cavill) surrounding Tom Cruise and his crazy stunt abilities (I can only hope I'm that active when I'm his age lol). I hope we get many more of these.

This movie is sex.

You’re hatred of Spiderverse makes me long for the days of @That One Guy hating Bohemian Rhapsody

I don't even hate it. sure it's not a good film but that's fine, bad films come out all the time.

I hate the sickly level of strange adoration its getting and i hate that it's blocking out worthy winners from these meaningless awards. and i DO full on hate the animation style. If it had normal animation i may have even enjoyed it, who knows.
