Huh. Pretty weird they are predicting just the Thursday previews for Pika Pika and weekend for rest.

I'm predicting Pika to be the 3rd billion dollar grosser for the year (and WB's first this year).

$19-20mn as per early morning readings.

That’s pretty cool, considering that I scanned the AMC app for NYC, and matinees were really slow. HOWEVER, judging by the same app, tomorrow is going to be a fantastic day for CM. There are already sellouts and a few shows nearing sellouts. Therefore, I expect the huge Saturday that Marvel movies usually get. If your 19-20 educated guesstimate is correct, then I can easily see over 70+ for the weekend.

I thought Pika Pika was from Warner Bros

acc BOM = WB

Maybe something got / got not copied over? It wasn't Shawn who wrote that...

Or is it a distribution =/= studio thing, like the early MCUs?

What is the absolute high number for you for 2nd weekend. For me it will be $76mn. Above that I will be very happy and surprised.

$80 million. It'll be leaning in on Black Panther territory if it's bigger than that and I'll say it beats Age of Ultron.

It's from WB. The producer is actually Legendary Entertainment. They first set Universal as the distributor for Pika but they suddenly changed to WB a few months ago. This also happened with their Godzilla. They first tapped Universal then changed to WB so that they can set up Kong vs Godzilla (WB is the distributor for Kong). Legendary has also set Dune in WB. I've always wondered why WB hasn't offered to buy Legendary yet. That company has some few cool biggies in their pipeline. If this was Disney, I'm pretty sure they've already bought it like they did to Marvel and Lucasfilm.
