Why do people still use the "nobody cares" argument on the internet, it's meaningless.

Obviously it’s hyperbole, people even cared enough to watched dark Phoenix in theatres

the movie will be bomb easily and will see massive decline like 2nd one was to first

Arguably quite below average movies sequel of an average movie to start with with kind of a weak link to the franchise in some ways made 655m at the BO.

That seem quite pushing it.

Yes but like for your Dark Phoenix example, not necessarily because they do not care about Marvel/X-Men anymore, I doubt the interest for some Hobbit sequel/spin off is there, that not saying that the interest for the middle earth franchise is nill.

You keep the epilogue and have the story take place after it. That's what Cursed Child did.

I think a film version of Cursed Child is already being very seriously considered at Warners.

Unusual Emma Watson is so silent

Think she is smart to stay out of the whole freaking mess.

I think that she is the only major member of the Potter cast whose post Potter career has been a big sucess has something to do with that.

I'm thinking Rowling's creative control over the franchise is gonna decrease now considering that her image has been completely tainted.

Letting her officially write screenplays was one of WB's biggest missteps in the past few years, espcially since she was merely a consultant on the HP movies. At the end of the day she is not paying for these movies to produced/made, WB is, so its their call if they want to cancel it or move in a different direction. She picked such an odd hill to die on during such crazy time in our world, it's baffling.

Quote

Warner Bros. has responded to the ongoing controversy surrounding J.K. Rowling’s statements about transgender identity.

“The events in the last several weeks have firmed our resolve as a company to confront difficult societal issues,” the company said in a statement to Variety. “Warner Bros.’ position on inclusiveness is well established, and fostering a diverse and inclusive culture has never been more important to our company and to our audiences around the world. We deeply value the work of our storytellers who give so much of themselves in sharing their creations with us all. We recognize our responsibility to foster empathy and advocate understanding of all communities and all people, particularly those we work with and those we reach through our content."

Lol, would love to know what restrictions were put on the PR flack who was stuck writing this...

By "inclusive" they apparently mean... "We're still not firing JK, yet."

But they also stood hard behind Depp at the time, so this is typical Warner Bros.

And she shouldn't be fired. I'm hoping most of these corporations and institutions know where to draw the line in terms of appearing woke.

Wonder how much of a say WB has in this versus Heyday films, in the past at least they were barely involved in the movies production side between the moment they approved a script to seeing a first rough cut. Maybe it change for the Fantastic Beast iteration

I personally think that cancel culture is an irritating ideology that people on Twitter simply use as an excuse to publicly drag people they don’t like. I don’t think people should be fired anytime they say something controversial or stupid. Newsflash, people say and do stupid things. That’s called being human. There is no such thing as a saintly person who always says and does good things for the world. That’s not how it works. Sure, Rowling has said stupid things, but if that’s reason enough to get rid of someone, then that sets a dangerous precedent.

Still, if WB wants to cut ties with Rowling, that would be their choice. All I can really say is that if they do that, that would give them even less of an excuse to keep a certain blonde haired bed pooper for their other franchise.

"We stand behind you...until it begins to hurt our image and threatens the bottom dollar".

Rowling can fire Warner from Harry Potter stuff, not the other way around.

Depends on what the contracts say.

Fact , neither side might be able to fire the other.

I suspect Warners cannot get rid of Rowling easily, and Rowlling cannot take Potter to another studio.
