Who are these people that theorized? People who read and believe tabloids.

They let her save face in public saying she chose to do Mad Money, but if you think about it, it was obvious she was fired. You don't break contracts so easily just because you want to do Mad Money. Lol, who is stupid enough to believe that

Anyway, about Depp, if that tweet above is right, it seems the decision was made before the end of the trial

What indication is there that she signed on for a three movie contract? Furthermore, what reason would they have had for firing her?

Because that's the standard for these big franchises. I mean seriously, you can't possibly believe she quit!

The reason for firing, don't you remember how she made a spectacle out of herself with Cruise while promoting the movie?

Yeah, this doesn't seem like a Katie Holmes/The Dark Knight situation at all. She apparently didn't want to come back (probably because she earned a Razzie nomination for Batman Begins), and so Nolan/WB went with Maggie Gyllenhaal (who was coming off of a banner 2006). This sounds like WB forced Depp out.

I’ve said this before, but there’s no real concrete evidence to support the idea that Depp abused Heard. The evidence overwhelmingly points to Heard being the aggressor in the relationship, which lines up with her past history. As much as I hate to go there, if the genders were reversed, Heard would most likely have been the one losing movie roles.

Depp sued a tabloid for calling him a wife beater. This should have been an easy win for him if the evidence presented by Heard wasn't strong. The judge made very clear that he did beat her multiple times. There was due process, and she was able to prove her allegations, leaving no doubt that she was telling the truth.

Judges are wrong sometimes. Depp suing The sun was a tactical error

Was it the standard back in 2003, when she was hired for the role?

yeah, they obviously wanted a trilogy. Maggie Gylehall being in the second movie proved their intentions for the character being in the second movie. They were not done with it in the first movie. Nolan himself was hired for the trilogy

There wasn’t a trilogy envisioned when Nolan signed on. It ended as a trilogy because Nolan chose to end it there. In fact, WB actually wanted to do a fourth movie.

Anyway, we’re getting off-topic. We should probably get back to talking about FB3.

Woooah boy, 2020 still is going buck wild. At this point idk what they're gonna do with this franchise, just put it on the back burner and maybe come back later, too much baggage. Like I've said before in this thread if they want to continue with this series just do a soft reboot and make it a fun adventure revolving around the Fantastic Beasts like they should have done from the get-go. It is funny that Warner Brothers now all of a sudden is concerned about backlash, new decade brings some new changes it seems.

This is shooting the same time as The Batman, so it won't be possible. We'll get a recast soon.

Also, WB said this is opening "Summer 2022"

I think if Warners really wanted to, they  could figure out a schedule so Farell could do both.

Re: Katie Holmes, remember she spent the Batman Begins PR tour promoting TomKat and acting generally weird, that probably didn't impress Nolan/WB. Who knows what the truth was, but Cruise had a reputation for being controlling. Katie was fine as Rachel, but it wasn’t some all-time performance. Studios weren't as in lockstep about signing stars to multi-movie deals from the first movie in the aughts, not that it never happened, but it wasn't standard as it is now. The whole Nolan trilogy/timeline is a lot looser than the MCU model.

Anyway, all of that to say everyone is probably a bit right: the original Dark Knight plans likely included Katie, but circumstances changed and neither side cared enough to make a return happen or wanted a big public drama over it.

Fantastic Beasts, whoa, Depp is out? Can't wait for JKR to weigh in! (WB is soooo praying she does not).

Moderation

You guys are veering off-topic here. Like with Aquaman 2...

Do: Talk about how the case and Depp's departure will impact Fantastic Beasts 3's quality, box office, future installments, etc.

Don't: Talk about Heard and Depp's relationship, other people's reactions, the media, who is innocent, who is guilty, who is an angel, who isn't, what Heard should get, etc.

If you do want to talk about the stuff in the "DON'T" section, we have a thread in The Real World dedicated to this. Anyone who breaks these rules will be given warning points or even thread bans. Thank you!

At this point I feel like WB will inevitable shuffle this off to VOD whenever it comes out and call it a day. With all the other issues this franchise has in addition a generally uncertain/unstable box office landscape for at least another year the possible profits for this movie were looking slim as it is.
