Both Gremlins and Ghostbusters beat ET on the same weekend.

Also, check out TLK there. So huge.

Because originals are so much harder to predict, I'm really curious what will set the record next. It's PROBABLY going to be something animated, but who the fuck knows.

Wow, idk why it never occurred to me that Home Alone held the record for biggest opening by an original property at the time.

Yea @Shawn has been tweeting about it all weekend

I wasn't sure whether to thank you for the compliment or laugh at the idea of me thinking myself a celebrity, so I'm doing both.

Seeing everyone here have so much fun with these numbers coming out is joy enough. Reminds me of what made me made fall in love with box office as a hobby years back. It's always fun to come in here and share that with like-minded folk such as you and so many others.

Movies are life.

I am being conservative here, assuming there were a lot of pre-sales. Using the usual ratio from Sunday to Monday, it would be 40-43mn and surprisingly, this film is playing close to latter so far.

But the safe number is 38-40.

say what???
