I cant imagine what film will even top EG or create this size of sensation in the next 5 or even 10 years.

Nothing within today's current franchises. In terms of pure box office (not opening weekend) you're gonna need a new franchise to build up, or a future classic that captures EVERYONE'S interest like Titanic or ET.

The closest I see is either Secret Wars or if WB can pull it off for DC, a Crisis movie but neither would get anywhere near Endgame

Maybe an Avengers film with Galactus.

Galactus doesn't mean anything to a wide enough audience to make these numbers possible again. Nobody gave a shit about Thanos on the basis of him being Thanos, but rather people started to care when the MCU made him a great character.

That's why I hope Marvel Studios does another slow, effective buildup to the "Coming of Galactus" in the next saga.

Decided I might as well try to figure out my login information to join in the OMGWTFBBQ that this weekend is shaping up to be.

I saw Endgame yesterday, in a packed 8am showing at the IMAX at the Metreon in SF. I am going to see it again today with the hubby and friends. It deserves every single damn cent it’s getting. But I never would have believed it could top IM’s complete domestic run in its OW.

God. Damn.

This is a movie which we know is gonna be record breaking and huge and still ends up crushing the inflated expectations. its going to crush OW record by over 100m(probably 40%). Even Avengers 2002 or Spidey 2002 did not beat it by this margin. Last time we had OW getting repeatedly crushed was 1989 (Indy 3, GB2 and then Bats).

This is looking at 1B Domestic and potentially 3B WW. So Domestic record is in play and WW is in the bag for sure. Only tough target is Avatar OS. With a good hold during holidays next week that could still be in play. China needs 4B Yuan and Japan close to 100m. Russia should take down Avatar in Rubles for sure.

I dont see any movie coming close for a decade. Not even Avengers assemble with XMen. SW franchise has gone downhill and DC is in shambles.

That True Friday is something to behold. Incredible, and off of 60M in previews. So far, Endgame is only slightly more frontloaded than Infinity War, which did "only" 39M in previews (38.3% of opening day from previews vs 36.7% for Infinity War). Pretty remarkable.
