Without a doubt, combing through the local theatres in Vancouver I was pretty shocked to see 11am showings nearing capacity. Showtimes throughout the entire day are staggering for a Monday.

Good to hear my home town is representing!

Normally I would saw OS cause of China but doesn't China have a big ass holiday weekend coming up.

Yes, Maoyan is expecting $530M by Sunday, could go higher. And May 1st is a vacation day in a lot countries.

Goddamn. 51 is no age to go.

I unironically enjoy 2 Fast 2 Furious. There's a skill needed to make that sort of blissfully silly, sunny entertainment, and it's easy to take for granted but when you watch something like 2F2F and a movie that tries to do that and fails, the difference is very clear.

Laika's MISSING LINK lost -1,849 theaters in its 3rd weekend, dropping -74% w/ $1M, $15M total. In comparison, KUBO AND THE TWO STRINGS lost less than 300 screens its 3rd week, grossing $6M, and finished with a domestic total of $48M.

The Pikachu effect?

Haha, my area has been weaker for Endgame from the get go, shows filled up slower, fewer later showtimes, etc.  Despite that, it seems like everything was full up this weekend until Sunday evening.  I live in a small city, so that might have something to do with it (seems like most people who track theaters are from larger cities).  20% capacity still strikes me as strong for a freaking workday, though this is literally the only movie I've looked at so I have no idea tbh.

Very tragic. Same cause as Luke Perry's death a month ago. :(

A lot of discussion in the media and friends group about the insane 1.2 billion dollar gross in 5 days.

and yet nothing in the Toronto Sun today about the record-smashing opening weekend of end game.

If Endgame opens to around 300m it's going to dethrone SW:TFA as the movie with the highest number of all time records at BOM.

Currently TFA has 32, and Infinity War 11.

It's going to get all of IW's records, plus 10-16 of TFA (Opening day, Single day, Opening Friday, Fastest to 100m, 300m, 350m, possibly 400m and 450m, 4-day gross, 5-day gross, possibly 6, 7 and 8 day gross, possibly opening week, Opening Avg, Overall Avg), foreign opening, widest release and opening, widest release and opening pg-13, weekend market share.

So, 28-34 records, while TFA would drop to 16-22, and Infinity War would disappear of the chart.

I kind of hope that Infinity War could keep at least one, like largest saturday, so that it still has a record for some time.

Made this post before we had any numbers for the weekend. So, Endgame is guaranteed to take all the maybes that I pointed, plus fastest to 500M, 9 and 10 day gross, and possibly second weekend, dom total, pg-13 dom total and worldwide total.

Total of 37-41 records.

The puny grosses for every holdover that isn't Captain Marvel is gonna make cleaning house fun for theaters these next few weeks with so many new movies coming up.

Some people thought Captain Marvel was going to take a big hit from Endgame, rationalizing Disney was gonna swap out. Instead, Captain Marvel got a bigger boost from Endgame than Black Panther got from Infinity War.

Japan does too, I think I read they have something like 9 trait national holidays in a row due to a mixture of the traditional golden week and the new Emperor.
