But maybe there are more people going to the cinemas globally these days?

Dude are you serious? In the age of Netflix do you think more people go to watch movies? That's not true at all...

Seriously, they're going to adjust for inflation but then not adjust for exchange rates differences - which are greater than inflation in most  countries ^_^

Inflation are lower than exchange rate difference in most countries? ?

Mind blow!!! BOT members seriously need an economic lesson.

Except for Argentina or many parts of Europe and Japan where inflation didn't really quite catch up to the exchange rate, every parts of the developing world are experiencing faster pace of inflation than depreciation of exchange rate.

No way a inflation difference lower than exchange rate difference, that would need a near zero GDP growth to have that occur.

Inflation and Inflation of movie ticket rates are two different thing IMO. In India, ticket rated inflation is far higher than CPI. Some countries it will be vice versa.

right now, all I want is that EG becomes #1 MCU movie by a large margin so that solo movies, X Men, etc can't take it out. It never felt right that a solo movie without a single OG was #1 MCU movie dom. I'm glad EG will smash that cause team movies define MCU so it's right that the TA finale is #1 dom, OS, WW by a landslide.

TFA going down dom would be a big bonus.

I also want a huge distance between EG and TLK cause the latter doesn't deserve to be #1. It's just a remake, not over a decade of build up.

You do realise the former group is literally dozens of markets, right?

It really seems like in the past week whenever China or DOM did not go above expectations, the other did. And in weekdays, Monday was normal in China but DOM Monday was above expectations then Tuesday and Wednesday have been above expectations in China so perhaps more normal DOM #s. Then if PSm of Thursday in China doesn't increase much perhaps Thursday DOM will be above expectations confirmed? Haha, I don't know. Reaching for irrelevant correlations that cannot have any causality at all here.

This is why adjusted by inflation is kinda stupid imo.

Taken those things into account is also rarely down elsewhere... I also never heard controversy that old runners would be faster than Usain Bolt if they had the gear (shoes in that case I think?) that he has.

That is true in malaysia where ticket price inflation constantly higher than general market inflation.

BOT members please remember, while you are obsessed about how exchange rate put certain in favour over another, bad exchange induce higher than usual inflation. Go google it, Brazil, Russia, Mexico and many other countries  all experience higher than usual inflation rate when bad exchange rate started to kick in in early 2015-2016.

Two opposite effect largely cancelled each other.

Comparing Avatar and End Game with nominal value is good enough.  Please don't get too obsessed with too much of adjustment factor

33 is still above the ratio to IW it needs to beat TFA so no

Agreed. The template to measure where this will land is IW. It needs to beat it by $260M, and it's going to be ahead by over half of that by the end of the first week based on what we're seeing.

Until it falls off that pace (which we'll see this weekend, which will be a big test), then the assumption that it will topple TFA

It's insane that this is very likely to beat Avatar WW at this point.

this is making over 3B. it's gonna make 2B in 10 days or so. it won't drop so much that it can't make 1B more at least for the rest of its run.

That true but for example Russia's ticket price for a ticket was $7 + before 2014 and now it's $4.2 I mean it's still a lot worse then when Avatar was around.

And I get what you are saying but in Belgium the admission isn't going up, it's trending downwards if it was for the € amount increasing they would make less year over year so ER is very important in Belgium to get the Gross in $. But many Asian countries extremely big increase of the last few years so they would easily off set the deminished returns for europe.
