PREVIEW #3

Spoiler

*Scene opens at dusk of a Japanese beach, it’s a wide shot showing a scrawny silhouetted North Korean man coming up from the Ocean, out of the crashing waves*

*Screen goes black and says “Based on the 2012 Pulitzer Prize winning novel by Adam Johnson”*

*Screen goes back to man, the shot still wide and he approaches a roughly silhouetted Japanese man walking his small dog*

*Screen goes back to black, text comes onto the screen saying “From the director of The Handmaiden and Oldboy”*

*Screen cuts back to the scene only now you see a close up of the North Korean man’s face as he knocks the Japanese man out with a clean hit, covering the man’s face with a bag, as the screen cuts back to black you hear a continual dog barking*

*Screen goes back to black, music swells a little with the dog bark continuing in the background, and text appears saying, “Comes a tale that takes you into the depths of a Totalitarian regime”*

*Screen cuts back to the scene, music begins to swell even more, with the dog barking continuing and now an additional human panting as you see a shot slowly pan out of the North Korean man moving quickly back to the sea pulling the knocked out Japanese man*

*Screen cuts back to black and text says, “And into the intimate depths of the human heart”*

*Music takes off as you see a montage of quickly compiled shots of different moments of the film: A man grabbing a woman as they kiss, a loan fishing boat in the middle of the sea, a man strapped into a chair with something around his head screaming, three men and a woman standing in the barren Texas wastes, a shot of a maniacal looking Kim Jong Il, a wide shot of a North Korean woman in LA, a North Korean man throwing a brutal punch at an officer in a dark mine, and then a longer close up shot of a small North Korean child’s face in an orphanage.

The music stops suddenly when it reaches the image of his face, and text appears saying ‘The Orphan Master’s Son’ over the child’s face.  As the text appears there’s a small piano line played*

*The dog parking begins drumming back up and the scene slowly fades back to a wide shot of the beach, only this time it’s only a small silhouetted dog barking, who finally curls up and whines as alone in the sand*

For "The Secret's Inside"

Flashlights shine on the audience, particularly on the actors who played sci-fi heroes who partake in the song. It starts slow and melodic, until they all agree that they don't want to do a production number. Suddenly, members of online musical group Team Starkid appear on stage, agreeing to take over the role.

The song begins with a fairly makeshift and clever set, a bit like a Broadway production, but soon things begin to enter wild and surreal glitz and glamour, complete with a row of tap dancers, a wild cast of characters on the stage, and ending in a surreal display of pyrotechnics and confetti.
