The Lion King is not my king: Lion King under CM WW

Recommended Posts

Long time lurker here.

Lion King imo will gross less than CM DOM and WW.

Reasons:

1) The animals are too realistic it is loosing the fantasy elements that made the first one iconic.

2) The Jungle Book had a human as lead otherwise seeing animal with no expression is legit nightmare.

3) Some movies should be left untouched.

4) Don't be tricked by internet buzz for first trailer. This is same like Detective Pikachu.

I think it looks creepy. I get it live action hasn't worked as well.

Still out 1.2B minimum likely 1.5-2

CM WW could be closer to TLK OS than TLK WW imho. Out.

God I hope this works out but I’m out. Pikachu (I think @captainwondyful made this point) was more based on Internet curiousity if wanting to see Pokémon IRL and people only wanted gifs and memes. TLK seems too big for this to happen.

I don’t understand the fascination of this forum with TLK just as I didn’t understand the fascination with stuff like Marry Poppins, Pokémon e.t.c Yes I know a million years ago a an animated film did well....so ? This looks so unappealing. So yeah In, it’s not like I will lose money or anything.

Too much confidence.

Maybe but the likelihood of this club is probably 1%

Lion King did 422 DOM in 1994. I think it's more likely to do 1.5+ than it is 1.1WW and I'm considered pessimistic on it.

Lion King has cross generational appeal. The broadway show and also circle of life in Epcot which ran for couple of decades. Plus Disney kept LK in vault for so long to build anticipation. Let us not compare LK with Aladdin, Beast or Mary Poppins. This is a modern phenomenon.

I don’t see any issues for it to beat Cap Marvel. Lowest I see it gross is something like 500m Dom/1B OS. I am hoping for 2B WW.

We will know in few weeks when initial tracking will come in.

TLK is just too popular. Out. Also the second trailer got 174 million views so it wasn't just a one hit wonder like Pikachu

Fair and reasonable. Personally I loved the animated film and so does my daughter. She thought this looked creepy as hell and I do as well. That said loads of people will love it.

Live action Mufasa scene is gonna make cry if I see it with my daughter.

Totally IN. I liked the animated one as a kid, but when I saw it years later I was bored. I don’t understand the hype.
