MrFanaticGuy, you need to calm down. The discussion around Godzilla is normal for all films that miss their original expectations.

Not everyone likes something but also a lot of us havent had a chance to see it yet so chill.

Yeah. This is exactly my problem with how movies are doing right now...and even this board. I’m being told to chill.....like i’m being scolded at. And i can control it fine....it’s just that...whenever movies (that i want to see succeed) underperforms and looking like to underperform, i’m really concerned and bothered. That’s why it’s rubbing me the wrong way. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Underwhelming numbers all around this weekend. Really thought Aladdin was locked for no worse than 50% after that Tuesday.

It's a fine drop most movies fall harsher the weekend after memorial day weekend.

Great start for Ma!

Solid for Rocketman too. I really enjoyed both of them.

Not really solid for Rocketman. It was predicted to open at $40 million. I’m not sure what happened there.

Maybe you need to have some sex to calm down. That's why i'm so happy all the time

Rest assured, the billion dollar corporation that distributed Godzilla will be fine

Fair enough. Though i’m still really upset with the numbers here for Godzilla. Like the haters are being so overjoyed with it’s supposed failure.

Budget is $40m so I still think a $25m opening is solid regardless.

Paramount apparently expected $18-20m (according to BOM), so I’m sure they’ll be fine with it.

That was a dream scenario if everything went right. $25M is nothing to sniff at and is usually where movies like this land. Bohemian Rhapsody's overperformance was an exception, not the rule.

Look to the left, look to the right. Are there Disney films opening a week before or after GvK next year? Just so we know which movie to blame if GvK underperforms next year.

You've gone on an extended rant blaming audiences who didn't want to see the movie for it underpreforming. Perhaps you should blame the studio for putting out a lackluster product, and the distributor for marketing it so poorly. And you're blaming people on an online box office forum, none of whom had a hand in the making of the awful film.

True. It’s more the cinematic monster universe that i’m more afraid of seeing suffer the same fate as the cancelled Dark Universe. Which isn’t that much of a fair comparison since both Godzilla (2014) & Kong: Skull Island were profitable.

legendary just can't catch a break can they. their last successful film was mamma mia 2. 😕

BlacKkKlansman wasn't successful?

Also it's worth noting that they've only produced 3 films since BlacKkKlansman, and one of them was a $20M budget comedy so there's not much loss there.
