Weren't they the only studio of the big 6 to not have any flops in 2018?

They had a great 2018. People on here have just bought into this lie that WB never releases hit movies that are well received anymore because apparently BvS and Justice League being bad an under performing is the only thing that they remember.

Yeah, they have a very diversified slate which is why even if a big film under-performs they can still have breakout hits like It and A Star is Born.

I wouldn't say they didn't have any flops. But the flops they did have were low enough budget to begin with that it was practically a wash when compared to A Star is Born.

The Anapurna Pictures Assembly Line

The Fox Searchlight Assembly Line

The A24 Assembly Line

Too bad the quality control of the recipes & ingredients  ain't all that in those corporations.

They should be inspected by sanitary authorities from time to time.

Their products should not pose health risks for movie goers.

The MPAA should take a stand IMO & get rid of half of these manufactured goods, they are not safe for consumption, especially the funny book movie fans.

Quality control has been a pillar of what makes america america.

DP really dropping harder than Fan4astic? That is quite impressive disaster.

So let me get this straight.  Someone noted what a historic year Disney is having at the box office and decided to make a little competition out of it and someone else in response to that said “stop staning corporations”.

Never change, BOT, never change.

just wondering. Is this the only Will Smith song for a movie that's original? Or does it sample another song like Men in Black and Wild Wild West did?

Just because it uses a sample doesn't mean it's not original. But if that's the standard you're using....

Girls Ain't Nothin but Trouble
Nightmare on My Street

Boom Shake the Room

Ring My Bell

Summertime

Men in Black
Gettin Jiggy Wit It
Just the Two of Us
Miami
Wild Wild West

are all built on prominent samples.

Why do people think SLOP2 is a flop?

Yeah, it lost more than half of the OW of SLOP1, but it will still likely make $100M+ profit.

So, maybe not 500m profit, but decemt enough.

Promotion budget for that film was huge. This movie was not cheap at all. First film mades hundreds of millions. SLOP2 on track to do nowhere near similar. How bad I'm not sure, a 50% drop from the first one with increased costs.

I agree though shouldn't be a loser profit wise but man that first one was so successful.

Much will be made by the media about these latest movies tanking.

Yet the facts remain...

Nobody wanted a reboot of Men In Black without its stars

Nobody wanted ANOTHER Shaft

Nobody really wanted a follow-up to Apocalypse, especially knowing the series will get rebooted in the MCU

Nobody asked for another Pets movie sold as the same film as the last one.

Nobody wanted to take their kids to see the dark as hell looking KOTM, especially after they were lukewarm on the last movie.

So none of this is a surprise.

It isn’t the end of moviegoing as we know it whatsoever. Too many big budget movies nobody asked for, and audiences prioritising the Disney fare as they really want to see those films.

If the other studios’ franchises are on life support, then come up with some new ones!! Or....spend less on a bunch of movies that differ from what’s out there in the summer season. Take a risk artistically, instead of gambling the house on a sequel to a has-been.

Lots of lessons to be learnt here. Yet the headlines will blame the audiences not coming out.

Even though it’s flopping I’m happy they made Dark Phoenix. I enjoyed it.

Beasts 3 will probably go the way of Dark Phoenix if they don't cancel it/do a massive overhaul

How's overseas looking for Slop2? BoM has the foreign total at only 50mil so far but I'm assuming that's first weekend only.
