That Friday makes reaching $840 million in North America somewhat questionable. Movie will need help to get there.

And someone mentioned 65 for Dark Phoenix, yeah that's not happening. At this rate it's not touching 60 and might crawl to 55 (yes, that bad). Next week they are going to cut into its screens with a damn laser from space. I'm talking trying tu cut cheese with an industrial sized laser from space! So expect 66% off or more next week, by weekend 4 we'll be looking at under 1 million, for a bloody X-Men movie... in its 4TH WEEKEND!!!

just noticed that Dark Phoenix went from #1 weekend to 4th place by thursday. Embarrassing. -83% drop friday to friday.

When did DP become #1 in a weekend?

Rocketman is gonna end up making more than either Dark Phoenix or Men in Black and will come close in total to Godzilla despite opening with just over half the amount on the same weekend (and at less than 1/4 the cost) so that's some good news. That and Aladdin are shaping up to be the leggy saviors of the dreary first half of summer.

Dark Phoenix and Fan4stic: Box Fox comic book movies that underpreformed and had bad reception among critics and fans and that got in 2nd place to other sequels. They also collapsed in its 2nd weekend.

What do they have in common?

they are both tentpole Marvel films in over 4,000 theaters on week #2 , and are wildly appealing with large fanbases, packed audiences, and small reported #s

We can forgive such lapses because of how forgettable and depressing this two weekends have been.

I think this is a good jump from Thursday. But why is Deadline predicting this to drop 57% this weekend? Is SLOP prone to small increase Saturday and big decrease Sunday?

The Secret Life of Pets 2 drop is rough considering it's already sure to get hit hard by Toy Story next weekend with little chance of recovery. Won't even reach $150M at this point. Oof.

Also looks like Shaft 2019 is gonna make less in total than Shaft 2000 made in its first weekend, no inflation needed. That's rough.

wtf i got up like 30 minutes ago and made dinner thinking it was 730 pm and that they just didn't report numbers today.

(i turned off the clock and calendar on my computer)

it's really only Saturday morning, oh wow!  It is cloudy outside so I guess in 30 mins either it will get dark or it won't, and that Spectrum is fucking with my clocks to videotape reactions. (total participating slavers)

Aladdin got a near identical hold with Maleficent on the same weekend. And it could probably (though it's not certain) match next weekend's 35% thanks to Toy Story double features and whatnot.

That's also a pretty decent jump for Late Night. I'm hoping to see that movie pretty soon.
