Alright, let's admit it. Disney saw it opening $140mn. Anything below that is straight out disaspointing, considering how conservative they usually are.

BTW @Menor how are Saturday pre-sales on pulse.

Disappointing yes, but not a bad figure at all. Will still open above TS3's unadjusted and will be the #2 animated film of the year. Hoping for at least a billion. OS markets help is deeply needed.

You know who’d love to open to 120 million?  Every other animated film this year

Every other film would love to open to 250mn but not Endgame.

The budget is estimated as being between 175m to 200m. As long as it doesn't somehow sink it its second weekend, it should make a decent profit.

Its not doing bad enough to worry about profitability. In all probability, domestic returns itself will be enough for breakeven and foreign returns plus home video being a huge plus.

Exactly, considering the tracking is kinda disappointing seeing below that, but that’s it. It’s still the biggest opening of the franchise and should do $ 900M-1B, basically every non-Disney movie this year would kill for something like this.

Anything less than Disney's projections for TS4 is disappointing. Not terrible but disappointing. Anything less than what is ever expected is always going to be disappointing, especially with a franchise that is SO well loved and had SUCH high critic and audience ratings. That's just a fact of life. But it's also a fact of life that a $130 million OW is still great. If it ends up around $120 million then that would be VERY disappointing, but oh well.

LOL at the prospect of Aladdin ending up with a better multiplier than TS4.

Thanks as always Charlie. Any news on Godzilla and John wick?

Godzilla 1.025 while John Wick 3 weirdly at 1.11. That JW 3 number looks faulty.

Edit: Even last Friday it bumped 83% so its ok i guess.

120m is a disappointing figure. No way to spin it. Fell below All trades and even Disney's projections.

saying "Any other movie would kill to open that much" makes no sense. We are talking about this specific movie and what it had going for it.

guess we'll have to see if Far From Home and TLK saves this summer

Giving optimistic Sat and Sun,

12

38

42 (+10.5%)

34 (-21%)

= 126

With +15% Sat bump for 43.7 and -20% Sun for 35 it gets 128.7 ow

Next one is gonna be The Lion King. Some might be predicting 200 million opening, but I don't think it'll go that high...

Regarding TS 4, the opening number is good. It's all about legs now. A good CinemaScore will do the rest.

What's the budget for it?

Heaven help this board if TLK comes in under expectations on its OW. :sadno:

(If FFH does better than 'expected' and sucks up a lot of July dollars....)

Realistic would be:

12

37

38

28

= 115

Just going to have to hope for some good legs. If it doesn’t hit $40M tomorrow, it might be panic time.

Why panic if it doesn't hit 40 Saturday? Even with a $115M to $120M, a billion is still alive.
