Avatar had $2.749B in its original run. It added another $33m with its special edition re-release, and another few millions with its several re-releases throughout the years to a $2.788B finish.

There are 2 different numbers listed for Avatar original run. The first is what you were mentioning $2.749B from the trades and others. The second is $2.755B according to BOM. But either way, EG will pass both.

Those are done with Average ticket price calculations of the year, the argument is that since Avatar has a significantly higher 3D/premium showing ratio, the actual tickets sold is lower than that, most people suggest the admission for Avatar is 75-80M, though we don't have actual data. AEG actual admission is lower as well since it has higher 3D/premium showing ratio than a typical film, though not to the extent of Avatar domestically. I think you moved the decimal point by one digit though. 5

It's amazing what a crashing US economy can do to exchange rates. There are also differences in inflation and ticket prices in differing counties (disregarding any 3D, IMAX, PLF differences) See Brazil. US $1 = 1.7272 Brazilian Real (Avatar opening) US $1 = 3.9321 Brazilian Real (Endgame opening) Avatar - $58m with 9,172,377 admissions - R100m Endgame- $85m with 19.23m admissions (so far) - R337m AEG: 209.65% higher in admissions AEG: 337% higher in local currency AEG: 46.55% higher in U.S. currency 7

Legion Again
In an ideal world, this is where experts of various markets would chime in with sources and hard data for the next two weeks, giving a detailed view of the picture in the end that most could agree on. In the real world, it’ll be two weeks of mud slinging, name calling, belittling, provocation, and attempts to discredit (by both sides I’m sure, though probably moreso people who are unhappy with what they know the answer will be). I don’t expect to be around much, but I’ll be interested to read results in the end. Good luck with all this Jatinder, hope you get some good sources here and there between all the chaff.

charlie Jatinder
At end of round 2, with majority of Europe and Latin America done; In 27 markets set; Avatar stands at 244mn compared with 319mn Approx of Endgame. If you think, need any correction in any market, you are most welcome, except for UK where data is estimated just like USA using Avatar and Endgame actual ATP in France compared with National ATP. You can see the calculation in Notes Sheet. These 27 markets account for almost 70-75% of world box office. Rest will be updated soon. 7

Nobody cares to recognize the original run champion! Endgame has only one goal! $2,787,965,087! Wikipedia, BOM will still recognize AVatar as biggest film if EG failed to top that number. If wining original run alone can do the trick, disney will not the bother to release a bonus version in the 1st place. 1 1
