Kong: Skull Island - 3D

March 11th, 2017, 4:00 PM, 55% full
Park Place Stadium Cinema | Charleston, WV

Park Place seems to have changed their trailer allotment on weekend matinees....as there were only three this time.

Trailers:
Smurfs: The Lost Village (Trailer #1) - No laughter.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (Trailer #2) - One kid chuckled.
Geostorm (Teaser Trailer) - Surprisingly, the audience was wowed by it.

Mix of adults and teenagers. Very receptive crowd. Plenty of laughter, one observed jump scare. One guy said "Holy shit" when

the first helicopter was taken down by an uprooted tree.

A lot of people left during the credits. A few people who did stay clapped during the post-credits sequence. I joined in.

Parents are so freaking clueless nowadays. I could not believe the amount of children in my showing when I saw DEADPOOL. Disgraceful.

I know right! I have also seen a ton of kids in the same theater when I saw Deadpool, Sausage Party, and Logan. They even had signs inside the theater warning parents about those films!

Same, although I was 15 when I saw. A lot of kindergarteners were at my showing of Logan too.

Have not done one of these in a while (years actually I think)
Anyway:
Beauty and the Beast

1PM About 80% full!

Trailers:
Boss Baby: Tons of laughs. I don't think it looks that great, but every time I've seen the trailer it has gotten a great reaction.

Spider-Man 4: Some talking.

Coco: I heard a bunch of "This will probably make you cry"
Pirates: Talking and several "I have to see this!" (Random fact-for some reason this and GOTG2 were the only Superbowl trailers I heard anyone talk about)

Movie: Better then I was expecting. Not as good as the 1991 version or as good as The Jungle Book. But still quite well done, I really hope this wins production design. The acting wasn't that bad either-but really does Emma Watson have to be a bookworm in everything she is in?

B+

Raiders of the Lost Ark (with live orchestra)

March 18th, 7:00PM, 99%% full

Trailers:

No trailers

It's Raiders.

Get Out

March 22nd, 7:30PM, 100% full

Trailers:

Burnt Offerings

Repo Man

The Fly

Rambo: First Blood Part II

The Killing Kind

The Silence of the Lambs

Welcome to My Nightmare

Teraway

Miami Blues

Taxi Driver

Death Warmed Up

They played 35mm trailers for like half an hour before the film started. So that was dope. Anyway, everyone there loved it except maybe the lady next to me who kept falling asleep. Their was cheering, laughing etc. Really lively crowd of about 400 people so that was cool.

Spoiler

Everyone clapped when they saw the Airport Security on the door of the car near the end. Then huge laugh at TS-motherfuckn-A line. Thought the building was gonna come down.

Overall great experience.

Dang, you should of just said what WASN'T a trailer!

Hey, I wasn't complaining. Was cool to see those old ass trailers on the big screen. It was like traveling back in time, back when @TelemAAchos was... still an old man.

Power Rangers

1:15 PM

50% full

I went to Regal and there was a mini trailer for F8, with the voiceover going "With the action this big, you can't watch it on a screen this small! Go Big or Go Home!" and one boy behind me said "I think I'd rather go home.". I got a kickass fancy ticket too!

Trailers
The Long Haul - no reactions
Despicable Me 3 - No reaction. Thank god.

King Arthur - Someone said "KING ARTHUR, WOW!" (?????? Have fun)

Spiderman Homecoming - Someone said "SPIDERMAN!"

The Last Knight - No reaction

Spark - No reaction.

I was actually super pissed we didn't get a Captain Underpants trailer. That's 90% of the reason I paid for a ticket.

It was a reasonably responsive crowd though. Some idiots came in late, sat behind me, and had to explain everything that JUST happened to each other, so I moved to the front about ten minutes into the showing.
