The Star

150 PM

28% full, there's always some stragglers with five kids who are late, but everyone was pretty well behaved.

Trailers:

Hotel Transylania 3 - few murmurs.

Peter Rabbit - stunned silence. I'm not kidding. My mother was interested, but I couldn't stop thinking about that person's comment in the thread - "why can't we get the Peter Rabbit that Beatrix Potter wrote??"

Ferdinand - no feedback.

Sherlock Gnomes - a few chuckes that died quickly.

Early Man - no response, but that was the first time I saw the trailer and I was pretty impressed.

Some of the kids (and myself) got restless but there was the occasional laugh. I actually groaned when I saw it was distributed by Sony pictures animation and wondered why we couldn't get Rio 3 instead. Maybe because Rio is by Fox so nevermind me.

Myreligious mother liked it.

Justice League

November 20th, 1:30PM, 5% full

Trailers:

Black Panther

Jumanji

What I thought was a Star Wars trailer but turned out to be an ad by the cinema chain with a voice over telling me to buy Star Wars tickets (still got tingly at the footage though; I am very excited for this movie)

ferdinand psa

Pretty quiet. One guy let out a really loud HA at one part of the movie, which made everyone else laugh.

Thor: Ragnarok

November 2, 7:00 PM, 100% full

AMC University Place 8, Carbondale, IL

Trailers

Den of Thieves

Downsizing - some laughs

Pacific Rim: Uprising

Roman J. Israel, Esq.

The New Mutants - murmurs

12 Strong: The Declassified True Story of the Horse Soldiers - left the theater to get a drink

Star Wars: The Last Jedi  - stayed out of the theater to avoid spoilers

Black Panther - lots of talk afterwards

A lot of huge laughs, with smaller ones throughout. Typical Marvel crowd, someone tried to start a cheer at one point but failed to get the audience on their side. Most people stayed to the end and laughed at that too.

A little less lively than my first crowd but it still got decent laughs all around. Again, most stayed until after the credits, which got good laughs.

Was that a negative “ohhh no,” or something that was in context to a scene in the trailer, or something?

It was super early in the trailer and from one kid who was like 10, I assume he recognized the animation style and didn't like Chicken Run or something?

Coco

1:35 PM

Maybe 40% full? Which was extremely impressive for this non diverse, relatively conservative area.

Trailers

Peter Rabbit - the new trailer, when Domhall was blown across the room from the wire near the end, I laughed harder than I care to admit.

Duck Duck Goose / Ferdinand / Sherlock Gnomes - I either had my earbuds in or went to the bathroom.

A Wrinkle In Time - interested murmurs. I still ADORE that remix of Sweet Dreams.

Incredibles 2 - "We're seeing that, right?" "Later."

The Frozen "short" - I'm not one of those people who likes Frozen besides two songs, and while this did greatly irritate me, I always did like how they managed to convey the body language of Anna and Elsa's love for each other, even in the full length movie.

The Hispanic lady in front of me actually turned to me about ten minutes in and asked if this was supposed to be playing in front. I am right there with you, Ma'am.

The movie

Every time like a song or setpiece happened, someone - I'm pretty sure was a little kid, would applaud for a few seconds. There was laughter at appropriate times, and

Spoiler

Near the end, someone said "Oh, ______ died :(" and some happy noises during the reunion.

Everyone, every single person, applauded at the end. I think this was the first time since Superman Returns I've been in such a crowd.

It

about 20 people

Trailers

[Insert Movie Here]

Red Sparrow - some dude was like "You Know, I thought this was some Black Widow thing at first."

Thoroughbreds - No response

Non Stop on a Train - No response.

Ready Player One - Bathroom Break

Stranger Things boy always got some laughs when he was on the screen. One dude found "And he's fucking bleeding hamburger helper!" to be just.....the best thing ever.

A lady brought in two SMALL children, one started crying...at a completely non scary part. The kids were just talking. I went "Come on." and a dude behind me went "REALLY?", luckily they left and didn't return.

Me and the other people in my row kept laughing at some of the cartoony effects.
