I didn't know Daniel Radcliffe was such a big star, because well without star you can't have that successful franchise.

Now that we are in the franchise era, I feel that (most) actors are only stars when associated with a specific role (e.g. Chris Hemsworth as Thor)

I'm guessing Incredibles 2 wasn't an event despite opening to 180+ million as well

Honestly, it didn't feel like it. Must have been a families-only thing because even Finding Dory felt bigger within my cultural bubble.

Gotta admit when I opened this thread and checked the last few pages I was expecting Marvel discussion but not Richard Madden and the debate about whether he's a star or not being at the center of it all.

It's funny, if you say X Marvel movie made $1b because of this actor they tell "well duh it's Marvel" which I agree but makes the star talk pointless.

Disney updated numbers for Avatar just in time to pass it with AEG.

The AEG numbers don't yet count this O/S w/e or Friday and Sat domestic.

Kinda crazy how much this collapsed not just DOM but internationally as well.

Very surprised about the Int'l collapse when franchises like Ice Age and Madagascar continued to grow and thrive O/S well after the franchises started to falter domestically.

Goodness, these Madden takes are so bad. He's been in a big Disney movie since leaving GoT, an Elton John biopic, a lead role in a successful tv show that lead to him winning a GG. A fringe actor, he is not...nor would I say he's struggled. Now with a new Marvel franchise, he may turn out to be the most successful of all the actors who starred on GoT.

Because It's not as good as both Madagascar & Ice Age (first 3)?

I mean Ice Age to 3rd part is good, the goodwill of trilogy carried 4th one to big numbers, but couldn't do she to 5th due to 4th one being bad.

Madagascar simply improved with each passing movie and actually stopped at a high of 3rd one (so far).
