THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is so underrated. Thematically powerful - Bruce Wayne is stops being depressed and rediscovers his own humanity and urge to live a real life; great villains -Bane and Catwoman were tremendous; awesome action, great humor, awesome music...its what every marvel movie aspires to be

TDKR no doubt beats Avengers at box office if it has 3D and no theater massacre

Come on, lets not trivialize a real life tragedy over some imaginary box office dollars.

It isn't imaginary, ask anyone associated with theaters. Business tanked from Friday night onward. Deadline initial 5 PM estimate - deadline was more accurate back then - had it at $90m opening day, it came with just $75m, mass reports of poor walk-up business in th nights and throughout the weekend.

Of course its a tragedy; several of the victims twitter accounts are still active with the last posts being about the excitement for the movie. Im just noting the semi-consensus that TDKR underperformed is a bunch of nonsense when taken in context
