Lol what, since when are 60% drops normal? Nether aladdin, toy story 4, secret life of pets 2 or beauty and the beast had them. 60%+ second weekend drop from this year: dumbo, godzilla 2019, dark phoenix and mib international, and i dont remember people calling them great runs.

60% drops are normal when you have a massive Thursday night preview. There are also more common in the second week in summer than they are during the winter. If you want to compare Beauty and the Beast and Lion King then go find out why Beauty and the Beast dropped less. The reason being is that not a lot of people can see a movie like Beauty and the Beast on the weekdays in a winter season. But in the summer more people can go so that's why the drop is more extreme on the weekend. If you add up what Beauty and the Beast did in its first 10 days in comparison to what the Lion King did and its first 10 days the numbers, percentage-wise, will be very similar.

In regards to Amazon, they can afford to splash the cash because they have deep pockets and also the fact that Prime Video is only one aspect of the Prime membership, for the money you spend per year, it's good value.

while i agree , dom and os-china the increase was just decent, the big difference was china

China grossed 116 million for Homecoming and just above 200 million for Far From Home.

It helped, but definitely does not account for the majority of the overseas difference.

Homecoming international was 545 million, while Far From Home will be possibly pushing 760 million after this weekend's good hold.
That's a 215 million difference. There were a lot of other International territories that increased a lot with FFH comparatively to Homecoming.

Even domestic, with some nice late legs could hit 375-380 million which in itself is a nice increase, just not the 400 million that most of us were hoping for.

That's a pretty fantastic overseas weekend number.

With 1.037 billion total already and a combined WW weekend of 33 million, don't see how this misses crossing 1.1 billion at this point and depending on late legs in some international markets it could very well hit 1.15 billion. While Domestic didn't really breakout that far beyond Homecoming, Internationally is a completely different story. I imagine Sony will fast-track the next sequel.

Finally a solo Spidey movie over 1B. It has been a long time coming but I am glad it is going to fly past 1.1B as well. Hopefully next one can do 400M+ DOM.

HC made 880, FFH might make 1.1, that's about 220M difference.

- 35 might come from dom.

- 85 from China.

- 100 from os-ch

I think that's only due to EG factor. Without that, FFH would be on HC numbers imo (if not a bit short). I figure MCU SM3 will go back to HC box office numbers if it's only connected with some random solo MCU movie and not to Avengers5.

Yeah it's far from a disaster or anything, but in my own opinion people are making a lot of excuses. Even in summer when weekends are depressed and weekdays are great, there was no reason for this to drop that much. Again, not a disastrous drop, but I think it's okay for some of us to have the opinion that it's disappointing.
