Happy Death Days number looks poor (considering that’s for 5 days). Will part 3 get a release here.

Completely missed that! Yeah it's poor and will likely release unless they post it on Netflix (which i'm all for as it'll do bonkers business on there compared to BO)

Doesn't release yet. Today was a preview. I couldn't watch it as was on at the same time as Screen Unseen!

Thanks! Good to know.

Closest I've ever seen it at the top. Good enough drop for Lego 2, not great drop for Alita, Green Book holding well. Pitiful for Kid Who Would Be King (sadly, I really enjoyed it). Very good number for Instant Family.

I think this half term should see solid business for Lego and Dragon, hopefully Instant can benefit also.

The Kid who would be King really got squeezed by its release date opening after Lego and HTTYD3.

i'm not sure that is true. family market here has always been able to accomodate multiple releases at the same time. better to release it in half term than anywhere else TBH.

How come we never get early uk figures?

Every country/region has another system to collect data. In a lot of cases its done by companies, some sell data some give top 5, top 10, or...

Some countries have less money earning / controlling systems (as in no being a solely money making seeking company), depending how they get financed / who is the organization that wants to know the data (e.g. film industry) they release data like they please (e.g. not having a staff working on weekends is cheaper)

If I remember it right in the UK the British Film Institute releases weekend numbers, they are not commercial like BOM, or...

Quote

The British Film Institute (BFI) is a film and charitable organisation which promotes and preserves filmmaking and television in the United Kingdom.

It was established by Royal Charter to:

....

The BFI operates with three sources of income. The largest is public money allocated by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. In 2011–12, this funding amounted to approximately £20m.... The second largest source is commercial activity such as receipts from ticket sales at BFI Southbank or the BFI London IMAX theatre (£5m in 2007), sales of DVDs, etc. Thirdly, grants and sponsorship of around £5m are obtained from various sources, including National Lottery funding grants, private sponsors and through donations (J. Paul Getty, Jr.donated around £1m in his will following his death in 2003). The BFI is also the distributor for all Lottery funds for film (in 2011–12 this amounted to c.£25m)

....

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Film_Institute

Its an interesting read to a degree, especially how they nearly lost 'themselves'/the existence of the orga.

You can look up which ppl working for the BO part at e.g. screendaily do use also e.g. twitter and so get some morsels about this or that movie early on, that magazine does release per distributor / week for UK.

There is/was an Ian something at Twitter, but I de-followed him as he tweets a LOT about sports, TV-series'... = private tweets / not screendaily related, I am not interested into (or do not even know), and around award time (the big UK ones) it cluttered my Twitter ~ BO-only feed

The div. sources for weekend I guess you know? If a mile-stone got reached, a record broken sometimes the tweet account of the runner of insidekino.de / insidekino.com (German) tweets it too (as in additional to his weekend results on said website), and so on.

Our Asgard sometimes posts details too, the new Indian guy (Charlie...?) seems to posts some too, and... maybe someone else knows additional sources?

Actually strong headache.... not sure, but I think there is an additional possibility, maybe for professionals only.

It's a shame All is True done so badly, I really wanted to see that film.

@terrestrial

@Boxofficerules

terrestrial yes you're correct. the BFI releases the most comprehensive data for the public. it's only done by weekend so there's no Mojo-like system to search or keep record, just have to look at individual weekend.

If you want to keep tabs on it, the webpage is: https://www.bfi.org.uk/education-research/film-industry-statistics-research/weekend-box-office-figures

so for example it look like this:

Just realised that Endgame releases in the Easter holidays in the UK, drops on Thursday 25th. On the release info im seeing so many other countries getting it on the 24th, why cant Marvel take advantage of the Easter holidays and release it on the Wednesday as well? (And give us fans a treat)

Easter is on Sunday, April 21. What Easter holidays are you talking about?

Probably just the 2 weeks off school for kids during the easter period. So if it opened on 24th you have one more day of kids out of school.

As pepsa mentioned, Schools have an "Easter holidays" which are the 2 weeks off to differentiate between Spring and Summer terms.

However, this varies by council, as you can see from here:

http://schoolholidays-uk.co.uk/easter-holidays-2019/

The vast majority do not have holidays when Endgame releases, most finish on the week before, but also get the Monday off due to Easter Monday being a bank (national) holiday.

Therefore opening on the 24th would only take advantage in ~20 councils, most of which aren't the biggest ones. Thus no real advantage.

 Im from Birmingham(2nd biggest city) and I checked my sisters school and my college and we dont go back until the 29th, dont know why the site said 22nd. Its the same with many other Birmingham schools.
