UK Box Office Thread

Thursday or Saturday needs to be £12m for that to happen.

Thursday could hit that mark. Midnight showings alone will probably account for a few million.

Infinity War currently holds Saturday record of £9.2m, so it’ possible Endgame tops £10m.

Thu - 12.5

Fri - 8.5

Sat - 10.5

Sun - 9

£40.5m total.

More from ScreenDaily:

The Force is most definitely strong at the UK box office.

Disney’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens has recorded the biggest single day ever for any film with an astonishing estimated $14.33m (£9.6m) on it opening day (Thurs, Dec 17). The figure tops the $14.15m (£9.48m) generated by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, which opened on Friday July 8, 2011.

Midnight screenings alone accounted for $3.6m (£2.4m) of Star Wars opening day haul.

Given what it achieved on a Thursday, there’s every chance that The Force Awakens could break its own record over the weekend.

The result also means that from just one day, The Force Awakens has beaten Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace’s opening weekend of $14.2m (£9.51m) from 460 sites in July 1999.

On the Digital Cinema Media estate which includes Cineworld, Vue, Odeon and Picturehouse, The Force Awakens did 720,000 admissions on its opening day according to DCM’s head of film Tom Linay.

With grosses likely to be equal, or even higher, today and tomorrow, Deathly Hallows: Part 2’s Fri-Sun record haul of $35.45m (£23.75m) is also under serious threat from The Force Awakens.

Back in October, James Bond movie Spectre set the record for the biggest opening ever at the UK box office with $61.63m (£41.3m) from its seven-day debut.

The Force Awakens would have to repeat its Thursday gross each day to stand a chance, but it remains a distinct possibility.

Given its staggering start and with the Christmas holidays just around the corner, Star Wars: The Force Awakens looks to have Skyfall’s all-time record haul of $153.6m (£102.88m) firmly in its sights.

All I say is, we know EG going to smash every record available.

But right now there are others movies that need some attention 🤔🤔🤔

if by other movies you mean shazam then a) we will probably know more things later today and b) if its perfomance its not noteworthy i wouldnt expect to get attention at least until ow is over and c) most people care about endgame at this point rather than shazam and it doestn help the fact that shazam isnt performing very well at least in most os not bomb or anything but not noteworthy

First: what a 'nice' way to appear here (the before post).

Second: if no Asgard graces the thread, we all have to wait way longer than you seem used to.

Screendaily reports for UK, that is simple to find per Twitter, they tweet about new articles. Going in directly might cause a block after a few visits per Twitter I always get into it (for now).

https://twitter.com/Screendaily

Early details at Sunday, more details and titles at Monday

Also The-Numbers.com

https://www.the-numbers.com/weekend-box-office-chart/United-Kingdom

Insidelino.com, e.g. per their top 10 for this year

http://www.insidekino.de/BO/GB2019.htm

Usually during Tuesday

BOM last weekend's chart, if refresh makes the next week click-able is one possibility to reach it

https://www.boxofficemojo.com/intl/uk/?yr=2019&wk=13&p=.htm

Be aware, their numbers change, when the exchange rate changes. For the whole run, even if the change relates only to a certain week.

Update chances  per title for a fresh and big money making release also during the week for OS finals there, as you probably know

In general:

if there is no record breaking, not early, and not before late-ish into the actual weekend

You've been a bit aggressive, but it's true, these guys keep talking about EG opening day/OW for weeks, everyone knows EG will open big, legs that will be a "problem" if worse than IW.

1. Why can’t we talking about movies that could break record opening ? We know it will open big but we don’t know how big it would open.

2. Also there’s an info about presales record set by EG which is very very rare for a movie to do so. What do you want us to do with that information ??? Just post it and forget it ?? Lol.

3. Also when we was talking about EG there’s still no number out for a new opener. If you want to talk about a new opener , why don’t you ask or start something rather than accusing us for just talking about specific movies. Someone will answer it. Or you can post the number here. Would be better than complaining.

4. If you don’t like the topic , then just in ignore it. Easy peasy lemon squeezy

Lmao damn. That's more than CM has done in a month and it's doing awesome.

Almost everywhere, except US and few others, but also overall, EG weekend will be more than CM full run. I won't be surprised if India 2 days is more than CM full run.
