SchumacherFTW
If I can find a reachable 2D show of happy feet I'll go, but leave after seeing the Looney Tunes cartoon. Not paying £1.50 for dancing penguins!
Jonwo
Happy Feet 2 has received a lot of promotion but I don't it'll do that well especially as PIB comes out the week after then Alvin 3. Arthur Christmas has done incredible but I think it's making most of its money on weekends which is understandable.

Jonwo
I don't think it was promoted at all and the subject matter isn't likely to appeal to British audiences. Tintin has had solid legs although it helps that its the only other family film apart from AC.
SchumacherFTW
The thing ive noticed with AC, is that there is no midweek traction whatsoever. It's strange even for a family film.

SchumacherFTW
yes it is doing really badly midweek, but Sony won't let exhibitors just show it the weekend! Seriously? It's getting to the point where a normal kids film would start becoming a weekend only thing.
PhilipJ2001
i know. i've been in the business 7 years and i've never known a distributor insist on a children's film showing for 4 straight weeks outside of holidays. usually after 2 weeks or 3 at most they let them show just at the weekend if you want to
SchumacherFTW
Thats just them being greedy, like Fox and all their crazy Star Wars clauses.
Jonwo
I imagine they want to try and make as much money as possible before HF2, Puss in Boots, Hugo and Alvin. I've noticed that unlike previous years the two blockbusters Sherlock Holmes and Mission Impossible are not in 3D.
Fake
It's a sad world where BD1 is doubling Tintin's gross.

Jonwo
Will be interesting if Arthur Christmas got a boost from the Public sector's strike today as I went to see it this afternoon and it was packed!

Jonwo
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo has been rated 18, that may hurt its box office potential as I assumed it would be 15. Given the popularity of the books and to a less extent the Swedish films, I think it should be successful over Christmas and January. SchumacherFTW
It was always going to be an 18, the Swedish version was as well. It all pertains to the rape scene, which knowing fincher will be even more difficult to watch than the Swedish version.
