Heretic
Pound has dropped to a new low against dollar. 1.29. Horrible, grosses are gping to be SIGNIFICANTLY lower for the rest of the foreseeable future. A £50m film would barely even reach $65m now. Sad. PhilipJ2001
Pets has had a very small drop again here. Ice Age about the same as last weekend. AbFab holding up fairly well.

Heretic
Pets is doing amazingly well. £35m will happen, at least.
Jonwo
It'll be interesting who'll win between Ghostbusters and Ice Age, Ice Age had two weekends of previews plus early release in Scotland and Ireland so I expect it'll have a very inflated OW total, I think Ghostbusters might do £4-5m seven days. Heretic
Quote Warner Bros’ The Legend Of Tarzan is the week’s highest new entry with $4.57m (£3.55m) from its 507 sites. Further distributor results to come… UK TOP FIVE Ranking Film/Distributor Weekend gross Running total 1 The Secret Life Of Pets (Universal) $4.67m (£3.63m) $28.7m (£22.27m) 2 The Legend Of Tarzan (WB) $4.57m (£3.55m) $4.57m (£3.55m) 3 Now You See Me 2(eOne) $3.8m (£2.95m) $3.8m (£2.95m) 4 Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie (Fox) $2.98m (£2.32m) $12.6m (£9.78m) 5 Central Intelligence(Universal) $1.73m (£1.34m) $7.3m (£5.68m) (Note - Dollar conversions are based on today’s rates) UNIVERSAL The Secret Life Of Pets has become the first film sinceCaptain America: Civil War in May to record a hat-trick as the UK’s number one. Universal’s animation fell only 24% on its way to a $4.67m (£3.63m) third weekend for a terrific $28.7m (£22.27m) to date. It will soon surpass Zootropolis, currently at $30.6m (£23.79m), as the year’s biggest animation. In terms of Illumination Entertainment outings in the UK,The Secret Life Of Pets has now overtaken Despicable Me’s $25.6m (£19.9m) to become the studio’s highest grossing original animation. Ice Age: Collision Course’s preview-boosted opening orGhostbusters’ seven-day bow will likely see its reign end at the top of the UK box office, but Pets is far from done yet. Also for Universal, Central Intelligence fell 41% (excluding previews) with a $1.73m (£1.34m) second weekend as it rounded off this week’s top five. Rawson Marshall Thurber’s action-comedy now stands at $7.3m (£5.68m), and needs a solid hold this coming weekend in a busy market to stand a chance of catchingWe’re The Millers’ $11.1m (£8.6m) result. YASH RAJ FILMS Sultan has recorded the biggest opening for a Bollywood film ever at the UK box office. Yash Raj Films’ huge Indian hit, starring cinema icon Salman Khan, grossed $1.35m (£1.05m) from its 121 sites, including around $573,000 (£445,000) in previews. That surpasses the previous biggest overall debut, My Name Is Khan’s $1.21m (£936,454). Sultan also achieved the highest site average of the weekend with a muscular $11,154 (£8,665). WARNER BROS The Legend Of Tarzan swung into the UK box office in second after a strong debut. Warner Bros’ reboot grossed $4.57m (£3.55m) from its 507 sites, including $1.04m (£809,000) in previews. Its Fri-Sun tally of $3.52m (£2.74m) would have also seen it chart second. Comparisons are tricky as the most recent Tarzan adaptations have been animations. The Legend Of Tarzanhas already surpassed the 2013 effort, but is unlikely to match the Disney version which amassed $22.8m (£17.7m) back in 1999. Also for Warner Bros, The Conjuring 2 scared up an extra $517,000 (£402,000) for $13.3m (£10.31m) after four weeks in play. It should pass The Conjuring’s $13.5m (£10.5m) result by the end of this coming weekend. Me Before You now stands at an excellent $12m (£9.28m) following a $161,000 (£125,000) sixth weekend. EONE Now You See Me 2 had to settle for third despite opening last Monday [July 4]. eOne’s sequel conjured up $3.8m (£2.95m) from its 483 sites, including $1.75m (£1.36m) from Mon-Thurs. Its Fri-Sun tally of $2.05m (£1.59m) would have seen it chart fourth. The sequel opened narrowly ahead of Now You See Me’s $3.73m (£2.9m) debut from 475 sites, including $1.4m (£1.1m) in previews. Given that sequels are usually front-loaded, Now You See Me 2 could struggle to match its predecessor’s $13.5m (£10.5m) result. The decidely mixed reviews won’t help. FOX After its outstanding opening, Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie fell a respectable 43% with a non-final $2.98m (£2.32m) second weekend. Fox’s adaptation of the much-loved TV show is now up to a fantastic $12.6m (£9.78m), and has already surpassed the $10.9m (£8.5m) result of Dad’s Army. Ab Fab enjoyed an outstanding Mon-Thurs with more than $4.4m (£3.4m) amassed. Also for Fox, Independence Day: Resurgence dropped a hefty 61% on its way to a non-final $1m (£782,509) third weekend for $14m (£10.91m) to date. Ahead of its nationwide release this Friday [July 15], Ice Age: Collision Course has banked $3m (£2.33m) from its nationwide weekend previews and full release in Scotland and Ireland. ICON FILM DISTRIBUTION The Neon Demon struggled on its UK bow as it could only manage a $163,000 (£126,966) debut from its 120 sites, including $12,100 (£9,402) in previews. Icon Film Distribution’s horror recorded a soft $1,362 (£1,058) site average, and is some way down on the debuts of Nicolas Winding Refn’s Drive($782,000/£607,454 from 176) and Only God Forgives($600,000/£465,917 from 188). The Neon Demon will hope to bounce back midweek with an older audience. SONY Toronto 2015 title Maggie’s Plan posted a $132,000 (£102,000) UK bow from its 81 sites through Sony, marking an underwhelming $1,623 (£1,259) site average. DOGWOOF From its 13 sites through Dogwoof, political documentaryWeiner recorded a UK debut of $21,000 (£16,679), including $7,100 (£5,509) in previews. UPCOMING RELEASES This week sees saturation releases for Sony’sGhostbusters (opens today) and Fox’s Ice Age: Collision Course, after opening in Scotland and Ireland two weeks ago. Warner Bros’ Keanu receives a wide release, while Metrodome’s The Hard Stop and Curzon Artificial Eye’sSummertime are among the films receiving a limited release. Good weekend for holdovers, and amazing opening for Sultan. Okay for Tarzan, should top £10m, probably won't make it to £15m though. Awful for NYSM2 considering it had a 7 day opening. IA5 is doing very poorly, only £2m from 2 weekends of previews. It won't even reach $25m, especially with Dory cutting its leg short. I'm not even sure it'll beat Pets in its 4th weekend. That would be laughably bad. IA4 made $47m, and IA3 57m. IA5 might only manage half, if that. Pets is once again showing its adult appeal, as it grossed another £2m Mon-Thu, when schools are still in. It should remain strong until Dory opens in 3 weeks. By then, it should be over £30m, and with summer holidays, its late legs could push the total past £35m. Huge success. If only ER's weren't so shit right now. Absolutely Fabulous will pass £15m with ease, might even manage £20m, which would be a fantastic result. Its weekday business is massive. As for this weeks releases, Ghostbusters opens today - Yet another 7 day opening. Don't expect much from it, maybe £3m-4m 'opening' at best. IA5 somewhere between £4.5-5m with its 2 weeks of previews added on. If Pets has another >25% drop, it could take the 3 day weekend yet again. Jonwo
What do we think Finding Dory will do? I'm thinking £9-10m OW but it might go a tad higher. It has summer weekdays so it won't need a huge OW to be successful.

Heretic
AF made £3.7m last week Mon-Thu, averaging nearly £1m a day, so it probably isn't too bad. Ghostbusters was never going to be that big of a hit, but now that it's actually getting good wom, it might increase during the week.
