BFG is looking very busy today, way busier than Star Trek actually. Perhaps it's going to break out.

How's Pets doing this weekend? Still on track for 32-33m pounds total by end of run or are we seeing a drop/spike?

Schools have finished now so it should do fairly well this weekend and next week, until Dory hits. It still has a lot of showtimes so they must still be expecting good business.

Weather has been good this week and this weekend looks hot too so drops may be bigger than expected, but I'd say its still on track for that figure, unless it randomly fizzles out.

Didnt Star Trek 09 have a Thursday opening? Looks like The BFG is going to do better in the UK than the US although not surprising as Dahl is more revered here than other countries and eOne marketed it really well.

I'll agree about the Dahl effect, but not on the marketing, it felt really off to me. Surprised it broke out though. Shame it couldn't happen like this to Fantastic Mr Fox, that's the best film based on Dahl's work.

The Secret Life of Pets adds estimated £1m for £27.8m after five weeks in play in the UK.

So another £2.1m added over the past 7 days. All children are on summer break now, so this week it should play well, until Friday when Dory arrives. I'd say it can manage a fair few more million to reach the low 30s.

35m will be a bit tough right? Though Minions still made some money while IO is playing last summer. But maybe 35m is a bit much?
