That is awful for Godzila. 4th place on OD.

I remember seeing Godzilla (2014) on opening day in IMAX and it was completely sold out. KotM last night in the same screen was barely a third full.

Rocketman is rated a 15 here. Families can go during the day to see the cartoons and Aladdin. Not surprising.

I imagine Rocketman will have better weekdays once half term is over.

Chances of anyone going to cinemas today = 0

Yep. Not sure about up north, it’s probably raining there.

But down here it’s been an amazing day, plus it’s also the champions league final today with two English teams so that will also have an impact.

@Heretic  @Olive or anyone with knowledge about the UK boxoffice, how come SLOP2 managed to have $14.4M cum in week2 after a $4.2M start? It just almost quadruple its first weekend gross!! Is that possible?

It was half term holiday this week, all kids off school.

Aladdin also had a huge week, almost at $25m now. Looks like it’ll have a very leggy run.

schools have been out all last week. half term holiday is always extremely busy for families going to cinema.

School holidays all of last week. It'll affect Aladdin in a similar way.

I dread to think how bad this weekend was, the last two days have been crazy hot. Ridiculously humid though.

By the looks of things not too bad actually. Aladdin had a very soft drop.

It was only really the south/south-east that was hot. Rest of country was pretty standard weather by looks of it.

Yeah, pretty much everywhere north of London it was 18-22 degrees. Nice, but not really hot enough to stop people going to the cinema. Nowhere near last years extended period of scorching summer temperatures.

Aladdin and SLOP2 are unlucky that Toy Story 4 is coming in June as it means they can't have a leggy run. I think Aladdin will likely get to £30-35m and SLOP2 £16-20m.

Did SLOP2 stabilize now? I remembered it decreased 70% from the first one OW.

It benefitted from school holidays much like Aladdin

It did not decrease 70%.

slop2 opened to £3.5m.

First one had one preview weekend of £3.6m then weekend of £5.9m.

although... worth saying that the first slop was still doing £3.6m in its fourth weekend, compared to the £3.5m opening of flop2. Lmao.

As for numbers this weekend you'll need to wait a bit to get official box office numbers. Sadly we dont have the luxury of chart breakdowns at the end of the weekend like other countries do.

Aladdin only dropped 15% this weekend (£4.9m) despite some amazing weather. Pretty incredible run so far after a slow-ish start. It’s gained a lot of traction and should easily top £30m.

I can buy that. Dumbo got to 32m USD and it sucked.
