2 Rocketman 2019/5/24 £ 5,381,904 £ 5,381,904 Paramount Int'l
3 Secret Life Of Pets 2, The 2019/5/24 £ 3,490,598 £ 3,490,598 Universal Int'l
4 John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum 2019/5/17 £ 1,416,278 £ 6,246,151 Lionsgate
5 Pokemon Detective Pikachu 2019/5/10 £ 1,009,717 £ 10,544,424 Warner Bros Int'l
6 Avengers: Endgame 2019/4/26 £ 900,524 £ 85,594,376 Walt Disney Int'l
7 Hustle, The 2019/5/10 £ 288,455 £ 2,911,492 Universal Int'l
8 Paw Patrol: Mighty Pups - The Movie 2019/5/17 £ 168,605 £ 784,659 Paramount Int'l
9 Amazing Grace 2019/5/10 £ 61,311 £ 500,341 Studiocanal
10 Muklawa 2019/5/24 £ 43,619 £ 43,619 B4U Network

top 5 this week:

Rank Film  (Distributor) Three-day gross (May 31-June 2) Total gross to date  Week
1 Aladdin (Disney) £4.9m £19.8m 2
The Secret Life Of Pets 2 (Universal) £2.9m £11.9m 2
Rocketman (Paramount) £2.5m £12m 2
Godzilla: King Of The Monsters (Warner Bros) £2.3m £3.5m 1
5 Pokemon: Detective Pikachu (Warner Bros) £660,000 £12.5m 4

So Pika did around £2m this week during Half Term, Rocketman did solid too, SLOP2 made a real recovery, as expected with the HT. But Aladdin is just phenomenal.

Then you get Zilla... just wow 🤦🏻‍♂️

EDIT: for comparison, Godzilla opened with £6.4m in the UK on its way to a £17.2m run. So Zilla 2 is down 64% from Zilla 1... Utterly shameful tbh. Even if you account for the Wed/Thurs too it's still down 45%...

SLOP2 is impressive when you consider Rocketman was £1.5m ahead and it managed to close the gap by £0.1m, I think Rocketman will have better weekdays due to be an older skewing title.

I'll be curious to see how X-Men and MIB International fare, doesn't seem like a lot of hype for either.

Aladdin only dropped 15% this weekend (£4.9m) despite some amazing weather. Pretty incredible run so far after a slow-ish start. It’s gained a lot of traction and should easily top £30m.

The Way Aladdin Trending in UK is Astonishing ...  Only 15% Drop is Absolutely Mind-Blowing .. Life Time Should Be Minimum 32 To 34 Million Pounds ...

SLOP2 also dropped just 16%. And closed it’s drop off from the original from 46% to 29% in the space of 7 days.

Anyway, excellent for Rocketman. Should leg it to £20m. Elton will be pleased!

Dark Phoenix looked weak tonight. Don’t expect a 5-day above £6m, although the un-summerlike weather forecast over the next few days and weekend will probably help.

Aladdin on the other hand is still killing it, evening shows have been very busy even though holidays are over. Playing like a proper 4-quad film now.

first SLOP did not open during holidays unlike SLOP 2. FLOP2 will fall back a bit now. the first one had holidays come around about 4 weeks into release i think which it gave it a lot of staying power. No school holidays until late July now.

Would we call Aladdin's UK performance a breakout? Because in Korea, it's having a breakout. And seems like Japan is also heading that way judging by the numbers.

I would say so. It dropped only 15% last week and this week is looking good again. Looking at potentially £35m (~$45m) total which before opening looked extremely unlikely.

well what do you mean by breakout. It's doing really well here, but it's also doing really well in USA. Unless I'm mistaken i think its doing about on par with domestic performance,

Given it’s a live action remake of a popular Disney animated film, Aladdin always had the potential to do well but before its release most were expecting it to disappoint. So the fact it’s holding so well despite intense competition has surprised people.
