UK Box Office Thread: Frozen II record breaking £15.1m opening, Joker passes TDKR - £57.1m total

Recommended Posts

it would be awful if Joker remained no:1 with such a low number. I hope something breaks out. Joker will keep chugging along whether its no:1 or 3. Who cares about records like how many weekends at no:1. What is important is raw number. I hope Joker makes 60m pounds in UK.

Joker-£1.66M

Good Liar number 1 on Monday.

The Good Liar is an old skewing film so I'm not surprised that it found its audience in the weekday.

Good Liar was the top general release again on Tuesday.

“42nd Street Cinema” was number 1, whatever that is.

An indication that Joker may be toppled at the weekend?

I’m pretty confident that Last Christmas will be a very easy #1.

Expectations for Frozen 2? Pre-sales already looking very strong for an animated film. Should have a very big opening, above £10m for sure, and a long run throughout the Christmas period. £50m+ seems likely.

42nd Street was an event cinema recording of the recent West End musical revival. I do wonder if they've actually combined the grosses as it played on Sunday as well.

As expected, Last Christmas easily #1 here in the UK, beating Ford V Ferrari by more than $1m.

It will never be as embarrassing than a bunch of Americans rushing to see Passion of the Christ.

Why is that embarrassing in a Christian country?

Because it shows how many America still believe in all that crap. England is technically a christian country too but it was no where near as successful here.

The rating was considerably more restrictive here 🤷‍♂️

Come on, it opened to 2m here, the rating isn't to be blamed for that, there was just less interest.

Is this about Prince Andrew's "antics", or about a nice little Christmas movie getting some decent numbers in the country it is set in?

No-one cares about Prince Andrew's antics, it sounds like bullshit

Is there a good website to track the latest (daily, if possible) updates on UK box office?

I'm not entirely sure ~

But this is somewhat of a site for that - or at least from what I can find:

Wonder if Frozen can top Toy Story 4’s £13.3m OW. That is the highest ever 3 day opening for an animated film. Somewhere between the £12-14m mark is doable. Pre-sales, especially for Saturday, but even Friday evening are looking very strong.
