Heretic
Midnights looking busy. Of course it won't top TFA's record £2.4m midnight gross, but I expect it should at least be able to hit £1.5m. TFA's opening breakdown: Thu - £9.7m (£7.3m exc midnight) Fri - £7m Sat - £8.71m Sun - £8.58m Opening £34m. For TLJ, I can see something like: Thu - £7.5m (£1.6m midnight, £5.9m day) Fri - £6m Sat - £7.2m Sun - £6.6m Opening £27.3m. Down 20% from TFA.
Heretic
I think I'll revise my prediction down to £6.5-7m OD. It's very busy, but no where near as crazy as TFA was, which had sellouts off the chart. I feel like TLJ could have its business more evenly spread over the 4 days. 3

A drop was always likely, TFA was the first Star Wars film in a decade and had the original cast. TLJ being a sequel and also the third Star Wars film since TFA means the novelty worn off a little. UserHN
What was the exchange rate when TFA opened in 2015? I think today's ER is horrible compared to 2015. This will greatly affect the drop from TFA. A 20%+ drop in local currency will become a 30%+ drop in US dollars.

With today ER, it would mean $164.5m. So the ER is about a 10% worse than when TFA was released. If TLJ drops a 20% in Pounds, as you say (98.6m Pounds), that would mean $131.7m, more than $50m drop (nearly the 30% you are saying). Heretic
$10.2m OD, around £7.65m. 3rd biggest ever. £26-28m 4-day ($34.5-37m) likely range right now. Will be interesting to see how much it drops today. @Rth Ragnarok do we know what the midnight figure was?

Jonwo
It'll be interesting if TLJ Friday-Sunday can outgross Beauty and the Beast's Fri-Sun which was £19.7m, I think TJL will do it but I imagine it'll only by £0.5-1m.
