So was it £11.8m or so?

I had a feeling this was something special. Everyone has been talking about it.

£12.6m.

Todd Phillips’ Joker stormed the UK box office this weekend, with a £12.6m start and ranking the fifth-highest opening of 2019 to date.

Opening Friday (October 4) through Warner Bros, the film played in 668 locations for an astonishing £18,787 site average, well beyond any other title at the box office over the weekend.

Still not ready to call this going beyond £30m, it's very much a binary, marmite type of response.

£30m would still be the biggest DC film since Suicide Squad and that had surprisingly good legs. The only real competition is Terminator Dark Fate and I don't expect that to do amazing business.

I can see this being close to the £25m mark by Sunday. Can’t see it missing £30m.

Pre-sales today look more like a Friday night than a Monday. Vue Islington is basically sold out in its two biggest screens tonight. This must be doing ridiculous business in London from what I’ve seen.

Vue has their cheap day on Mondays which may explain why it's busier than a normal Monday.

Joker probably will outgross Shazam's total by today or tomorrow which is insane, not that Shazam did badly as it had decent legs and was sandwiched between Captain Marvel and Avengers release wise.

Despite Joker's OW, Judy also did solid business with £2.1m including previews,

Can’t believe how busy Joker is looking during weekdays. Every night this week so far it’s selling out basically all shows around me, even earlier shows at 5/6pm when most people are still working. Weekday business must be massive, it looks busier than most films Saturday nights. I’m intrigued to see how well Joker holds this weekend. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if it was a sub 50% hold.

Do you predict it can reach £25m by Sunday ?

Just got back from watching it for a second time at Curzon Soho and it was practically sold out. Seems to be doing very well in London.

The number of show times I've seen around London for it this weekend doesn't appear to have dipped at all. Any dip from losing some IMAX shows has definitely been compensated for.

"£12.6m = $15.5m"

God, the pound really has taken a battering in the last few years.

Anyway, seeing this at a Picturehouse on Friday. Looks like they've just added another showing today to accommodate unexpectedly high demand.

Surprised Vue Stratford is quite a bit below Vue London as when I’ve checked, Stratford has looked even busier. I guess the capacity is not as big as in Shepherd’s Bush Vue.

Tonight’s Pre-sales are looking similar to OD in some locations.
