Jonwo
HT should do okay, probably around £2-2.5m for the weekend. Given that Frankenweenie underperformed in the US, I have low expectations for it doing well especially against Madagascar and HT.
RthDeadWov
RTH will probably have numbers later, but if yesterday did £770k, then today will definitely get over £1m easily. Maybe nearer £1.5m, Tonights shows are all already full. Most will sell out.not far of the mark :)Taken2 wed about 1.260m cumes over 10mLooper/Sinister 400kthen PN 50k
Jonwo
I imagine Thursday will be nearer Monday numbers so it'll be at £10.7-10.8m by Thursday which is good considering how frontloaded the four day weekend was. It should number 1 this weekend although it wouldn't be surprise if the Madagascar previews are number 1 but that won't counted until next week. Jonwo
Judging from the good reviews, it seems Skyfall may be a return to form for the Bond franchise and that will translate at the box office, given the lack of competition until BD part II, it'll be number 1 for three weeks. The Dark Alfred
Taken easily #1, 50% down from last Friday. Sinister is getting excellent WoM, it's having a majestic hold, only 20% down from last week. Hotel Transylvania is having a poor start at third, Looper and Perks are looking at 30% drops. Ruby Sparks #6, On The Road #9, Untouchable #8, lost 52 theatres.
Heretic
That's pretty good for Taken 2. Should mean at least £3m for the second weekend then, and possibly near £14m by Sunday.Fantastic for Sinister! Maybe another weekend over £1m.Didn't expect a strong gross for HT on a Friday, but tomorrow and Sunday should be much stronger, although, I think Madagascar 3 will handily beat it.Great for Looper and Perks too. Shaping up to be another fine weekend.
JCS
The BO is back and healthy again!Shame about Untouchable losing so many cinemas though.
Jonwo
Not surprise at HT, Friday night isn't exactly a good night for kids films, it'll do much better business tomorrow and Sunday, it'll still be beaten by Madagascar 3, both will have their best weeks when Half Term arrives. Heretic
With Bond's overwhelmingly positive reactions so far, I think it has a chance to top TDKR (£56m) for number 1 of the year.Casion Royale opened to £13.4m, and ended with over £55m because of the fantastic WOM.QoS opened to £15.4m, and finished with £51m.Skyfall is probably going to open to around £16m, and if WOM is on par with CR, which is looking promising atm, then I could definitely see £55-60m happening. Heretic
Oh, and Madagascar is completely destroying HT.

JCS
Yes, Skyfall will do very well indeed. But the big question is: can it beat Casino Royale? Empire just gave Skyfall 4 stars (same as Casino Royale) and other reviews have been positive. http://www.empireonline.com/reviews/reviewcomplete.asp?FID=137076 The Adele Skyfall theme song further increases the interest and the 'Bond 50' stuff is everywhere and Bond is in everyone's mind at the moment. Plus the trailers have been excellent! Now, Casino Royale grossed £55.3M and is the biggest Bond film at the UK box-office. I think Skyfall will have a bigger OW AND out-gross Casino Royale! Skyfall = £16.5M OW/£58M gross.
JCS
I also saw Madagascar 3 and it really is very good for an animated film and very funny. Will easily win next weekend and breeze past Madagascar 2 gross.
Heretic
Imagine having 2 £60m grosses in the space of 2 months.Could happen.
Olive
I also saw Madagascar 3 and it really is very good for an animated film and very funny. Will easily win next weekend and breeze past Madagascar 2 gross.Mad2 made $35M in UK, if Mad3 can't outgross that ,I'll be very disappointed. But, I'm afraid skyfall will cut its legs... StephenN18
Any idea on how much RE has made so far? I'm hoping it will be able to gross more than $3,538,749, which was the gross for Apocalypse in 2004.
JCS
Imagine having 2 £60m grosses in the space of 2 months.Could happen. That would be amazing!Mad2 made $35M in UK, if Mad3 can't outgross that ,I'll be very disappointed. But, I'm afraid skyfall will cut its legs...Mad3 should make at least $35M and outgross Mad2 so you won't be disappointed! It has the whole OW then another 7 days of holidays to do well. SchumacherFTW
Mad 3's in an unenviable position really. It's the first big kids film in a long time, similar to its US bow. Unfortunately it cannot fail.
Jonwo
Come Half term, there will be three kids films so while I think Madagascar will get the lion share, HT and Frankenweenie should benefit as well. Dreamworks also has Rise of the Guardians at the end of November which I think will do good business especially with no similar competition.
