fmpro
I would say beating Avatar is likely at this point. But I will wait till next weekend to say anything for sure. Yeah.. Next weekend will be the key
Jonwo
It'll depend on how it does next weekend, I think £4-5m is likely as it'll lose screens to BD2 and IMAX as well. Any predictions for Breaking Dawn part II, part I did £13.9m so I think £15m is likely although it could be higher.
Heretic
£4m? It's not going to drop over 60% even with IMAX loss.
SchumacherFTW
When I saw Argo earlier I asked how Bond was doing today. The woman said they sold out all shows that day. Mental!
Fake
I say 45% drop.
Robertron
The last time I remember something continuously selling out like this was Avatar.FML this is insane.
JCS
What is going on?!?A ridiculously good 3rd weekend for Skyfall, I have run out of superlatives to describe the monster that is destroying the UK Box-Office records = Skyfall.I was hoping over £10M but around £11.5M for a 3rd weekend is insane, every film would be happy with that for OW...Avatar is sweating now in the #1 position and Bond gets closer and closer, can it be done!?! I hope so!
JCS
Decent weekend for Argo too!Saw it on Friday and was busy and legs will be great as WOM is solid (as it is a fantastic film). We are being spoilt for choice this Autumn/Winter. JCS
By tomorrow (Monday) night, Skyfall should be number #3 on the top-grossing chart... :blink:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_highest-grossing_films_in_the_United_Kingdom
JCS
Though I am really not sure Skyfall can get past £100M milestone. I think BD2 and The Hobbit will cut its final legs.Well it should pass Avatar at least unless BD2 has a big impact.
Jonwo
The Hobbit is the next film which I expect will do big business, probably not Skyfall numbers but I expect it will match Fellowship of the Ring's OW.
Heretic
I wonder if BD2 can hit £15m this weekend. That would be pretty amazing.BD1 opened to £13.9m.
Jonwo
I think £15m is likely which is a small increase from BD1, will be a major weekend for cinemas with this and Skyfall's continued success.Thinking ahead, I wonder if Catching Fire will double THG OW given its opening in the November slot previously held by Potter and Twilight. Heretic
£10m should be fairly easy for Catching Fire I think.
JCS
£15M OW for BD2 is definitely in play and would be unsurprising if it happened.
JCS
UK weekend BO report is in! http://www.screendaily.com/box-office/skyfall-records-hat-trick-as-it-climbs-uks-all-time-list/5048867.article?referrer=RSS Apart from Skyfall's estimated £11.4/.5M weekend... [*]Madagascar 3 nearly at £20M after a £1.5M weekend for £19.7M total so far. [*]Argo with £1.3M OW, but legs will be great! [*]Here Comes The Boom tanks with £470,000 debut. [*]HT at £7.4M now and Taken 2 at £23.2M now.
JCS
This week:Amour should do well with glowing reviews. The Master expands nationwide after 2 weeks in just one London cinema, again should do well with Oscar buzz too!And of course, Twilight: BD2 which should have at least a £14M OW to avoid being branded as having a 'bad' OW. Jonwo
The Master will do decent but not big numbers, Madagascar 3 and Taken 2 have had great runs so far although Madagascar will probably be hit by Rise of the Guardians in a few weeks. Next week has three mid-sized releases with Gambit and Silver Linings Playbook opening midweek and Nativity 2 although I think the latter will flop, did the first one even do well? htall90
Do we have inflation adjusted figures for other films to compare skyfall to?
SchumacherFTW
Epic schedule for my local from friday. 3 screens Breaking Dawn, 2 shows madagascar 2D daily, one show daily for Argo and 2 full day screens plus a night show for Skyfall. Insane! I knew it would be interesting to see what happened but I didn't expect a 3/3 split for Skyfall and Breaking Dawn at night!
