Weekend:

1.Sonic 2-£4.98M

2.Morbius-£2.5M

3.The Bad Guys-$1.6M/£2.3M

Biggest video game opening of all time for Sonic 2, beating Pikachu.

Great weekend for UK cinemas!

Scottish schools are off now right through until 19th of April. So expect great legs for Sonic and the Bad Guys. I’m sure the rest of the UK get similar holidays.

yep. Most English and Welsh schools are off for two weeks from next Monday.

Some school holiday impact already: two family films at the top on a Monday.

Morbius and The Batman are both rated 15, so a lesser impact for them.

Getting a lot of showtimes, Vue Westfield has 27 shows a day.

Pre-sales don’t look as strong as one would expect for a Potter-verse film but they are decent. I expect sales to pick up and walk up to be good, so hoping at least £8m, but hopefully closer to £10m. Should have some great weekdays though due to school holidays over the next few weeks.

With the reviews dropping I can't see much of a bump 🤣

Some of the standard evening showings are busy at my local.

32 showings on Friday at one, 22 at the other.

26 shows total on Friday at my local, half of which are some form of PLF. 7 screens during peak time, very low for a wizarding movie, 5 down on Batman and half of No Way Home.

One thing to keep in mind is that TSoD just can't open as high as CoG did even pre pandemic. As long as the film does 500 million + (I can see that, take out Russia, China mostly, and then account for realistic pandemic setting), that's a win I'd think.
