DeeCee
It's stupid the way the UK chart handles previews.
Heretic
Yeah. But actually, they've started to change it a bit. Only for some films though. For TASM2, BOM only recorded the 3 day weekend, and included the previews on Wednesday and Thursday in the running total, which is how it should be.
DeeCee
TASM2 is performing far better in the UK relative to CA2 then it is in Australia or Domestic.

Jonwo
It's stupid the way the UK chart handles previews.I think the whole business of previews has gotten a bit ridiculous, even Charles Gant and Mark Kermode have noted it, I hope that it'll lead to changes in reporting where only the Friday-Sunday numbers are counted and any previews are included in the running total rather than the opening weekend, Edited May 9, 2014 by Jonwo
Heretic
Godzilla on Thursday, what are people thinking? Godzilla '98 made £16m, so obviously it's pretty popular over here. Today that would adjust to probably £25m, or more. 4 day opening of £7-8m ($12-13.5m) is possible imo. SchumacherFTW
7 or 8 sounds good to me. 3 day will be £6m at least i think.
Jonwo
£7-8m is sequel territory, think £5-6m four days,
SchumacherFTW
£7-8m is sequel territory, think £5-6m four days, ST09 did £5.95m 4 day with only 7 IMAX screens to boost the gross. We now have over 20 IMAX screens and 3D as well, not to mention the hugely increased number of digital screens allowing more screenings on average per cinema now. I definitely see £7m.
Heretic
Godzilla is a well known property, with a lot of buzz and excellent marketing. £5m is way too low.
Heretic
In other news, Bad Neighbours is easily on top. Should have a £3-4m weekend, and will likely be somewhere around £8.5m ($14.3m) already.

Just put PR for preview and include it in that weekend. That's how it's treated here. As an example, Bad Neighbours. http://www.urbancinefile.com.au/home/boxoffice.asp

Heretic
Ian Sandwell @ian_sandwell 5m The Amazing Spider-Man 2 up to around £22.3m in the UK after four weeks in play. £3.7m left to beat TASM. $37m total now, on par with TASM at the same point, however, the fourth weekend is much bigger than it was for TASM. JCS
Good but stupidly inflated OW for Bad Neighbours. Bad Neighbours moves into UK top spot with estimated £8.7m opening, including extensive previews, from 500 sites.
Heretic
Yeah. Nonetheless, it's making big money! £20m possible ($30m+).
Jonwo
Maybe, it has competition in the next few weeks but the drop was small when you strip out previews
