UK Box Office Thread

for the dollars..

Quote

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has edged out cousin Star Wars: The Force Awakensin its first Tuesday hold overseas — percentage-wise. With $16M yesterday, Disney/Lucasfilm’s standalone franchise spinoff saw a 1.3% increase in offshore markets versus its Monday ticket sales tally. Last year, on TFA’s first Tuesday, that film dipped by 1% from the Monday.

...

The UK, which has seen a big exchange rate swing since last year, continues to lead offshore play and rose to $28.2M after a $3.5M Tuesday (up from Monday’s $3.1M).....

deadline see SW R1OS thread (I have data in the in between save thingie)

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story up to around £34.3m in the UK at the end of its second (reduced) weekend.

Right where it should be. An excellent week, looks well on its way to £55m+, with £60m a strong possibility as it stands.

I imagine Moana and Passengers are doing good business, I suspect Collateral Beauty, Monster Trucks and Why Him? will do well but not great business.

NYD has three openers all aimed at different audiences, Silence I suspect will do okay as will A Monster Calls, I suspect Assassin's Creed will do similar figures to Warcraft then have horrid legs.

I've already seen ads for Sing during kids films like Sleeping Beauty, I think it'll be a solid hit although I think it'll be closer to Trolls numbers than SLOP numbers. It biggest competition is The Lego Batman Movie which comes out only a few weeks later,

I've seen loads of ads for Sing on TV as well - I think Illumination's marketing alone will ensure it makes more than Moana. Even my sister, who's a massive Disney fan, didn't know Moana was out when I asked her about it a week into its run.

Rogue One is doing HUGE business today.   Absolutely packed this afternoon, looks busier than OD.

Same for Fantastic Beasts. I'm seeing so many sellouts or almost full shows, it's still making a lot of money.

Moana doing quite well too, it should end the holidays with at least a half respectable total.

That'a what word of mouth around the Christmas dinner table does!

Moana has no real big competition and Sing's not out for another three weeks so it has plenty of time to make money during January.

Presales have already started for Fifty Shades Darker and The Lego Batman Movie, it'll be interesting which one comes out on top, my money's on Lego Batman
