UK Box Office Thread

I wrote a post on the previous page. Probably similar to TLJ, which opened to £28m and ended with £82.7m.

In terms of legs, who knows, as the reaction is looking very divisive so far. Will have to see how WOM is.

Early signs from Paris not looking too good, down almost 20% from TLJ.

Eeeek not good not good ~

Well hopefully this'll be a lesson to Disney and Lucasfilm ~

Imagine if Joker ends up making more in the UK than The Rise of Skywalker 😂

I highly doubt that this would miss £60m.

But if that were to happen and Joker ended up higher, that’d be one of the most surprising and unexpected box office feats probably ever.

Exactly haha ~

But I'm not going to put that possibility aside, especially given how TROS' numbers for its opening day are really poor for Germany, Italy and France.

True. In light on these European results so far, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a sub £25m opening. I mean it’s obviously huge, but not on the level of the previous two films. Will be interesting to track.

Exactly haha, more so the second-weekend drop ~

$10.2m OD, around £7.65m. 3rd biggest ever.

£26-28m 4-day ($34.5-37m) likely range right now.

Will be interesting to see how much it drops today. @Rth Ragnarok do we know what the midnight figure was?

So that’s about £6.4m. £1.2m down from TLJ, or around 16% drop. I suppose that’s not too bad compared to some other markets.

If it follows TLJ over the weekend, it will open to £24m ($31m).

With this OW and presumed better legs than SW8, how much can we expect for final run of SW9 in UK ? Can it beat AEG ?

No chance. That would require £90m which just won’t happen.

It may not even beat TLK for number 2 of the year, which made £76m.

Have to see how it performs this weekend, but maybe £70m total.

If it had TLJ legs, about £62m. Half of TFA. £70m would be very unlikely with that opening.

OOH MY JESUS! That would be the lowest of the Sequel Trilogy

1. Avengers: Endgame £88.7

2. The Lion King £75.9

3. Toy Story 4 £66

4. The Rise of Skywalker - £62

4. Joker £57.8

Frozen II hasn't enter the list at the moment, which is why I didn't include it.
