Was great to see the car park so busy yesterday.

Spiral was good, earned its 18 rating, yikes!

Had a great first experience back. Recliners, large icee, quiet audience with appropriate laughs, “eeewws” and jumps.

Some other numbers.

Warner Bros was the leading distributor on the reopening day, with six titles in the top 15 including Mortal Kombat (£31,015 from 216, £144 average); Judas And The Black Messiah (£27,843 from 187, £149 average); Those Who Wish Me Dead (£23,627 from 157, £150 average); Tom & Jerry: The Movie (£12,148 from 177, £68 average); and The Little Things (£10,424 from 120, £87 average)

Other titles playing in cinemas included Oscar winners Minari, following up its April 2 digital release by taking £12,556 from 67 sites for a £187 average for Altitude; and Vertigo Releasing’s Sound Of Metal, taking £8,194 from 70 locations for a £117 average.

Disney also had Raya And The Last Dragon playing in 40 sites, taking £6,200 at an average of £155; while Zee Studios released Bollywood title Radhe: The Most Wanted Bhai in 20 cinemas, taking £5,779 at an average of £289.

That’s grim for Mortal Kombat and especially Those Who Wish Me Dead.

Solid for The Unholy and Spiral, all things considered.

Nomadland is available for free on Disney+ here. Big gross for Peter Rabbit on a non holiday Monday.

note: no Cineworld locations were opened on Monday. They open today.

Box office up 41% from Tuesday and 9% from Monday in the UK yesterday after Cineworld opened its 120 locations.

Peter Rabbit has grossed $850k so far. Total gross for cinemas first 3 days back is $2.83m. (Source: deadline)

* note the Deadline article says 50% capacity. That’s incorrect. With social distancing rules in Scotland, it’s about 20% per screen as 3 seats on either side have to be left between every household. Therefore if one person buys a seat in the middle of the row, the row is basically gone.

99% sure we're going to get some pretty good numbers this weekend if my local is anything to go by. You can't get a Peter Rabbit seat for love nor money.

Hopefully we do get some decent numbers for the first week back!

$6.4m UK opening week (7 full days) for Peter Rabbit 2 apparently.

Cineworld sound pretty happy with their opening, hopefully this is a good sign for the coming weeks. 2 big releases and a popular niche release this weekend, another big one next weekend. I'm feeling good about summer BO here.

Me too, that article says Peter Rabbit 2 grossed $2.5m of its $6.4m on Saturday alone.

The Conjuring 3 is selling well too, I was supposed to see a preview tomorrow but I’m now going on Saturday night.

Dates should read 17th May instead of 21st. 7 day totals.

So glad we’re back. Peter Rabbit and Cruella have no family competition until July too.

Hoping both The Conjuring 3 and A Quiet Place 2 can do well. Solid starts for Spiral and The Unholy but I noticed The Unholy finishes at a lot of cinemas on Thursday.
