£7.6m on a non-holiday Wednesday, and also no midnight shows. That is huge! Right in the middle then of what I expected. Around $10m.

Something like this may be possible then:

Wed £7.6m

Thu £4m

Fri £5.5m

Sat £7m

Sun £6m

£30.1m 5 day. Probably going to be a close one for the £30m mark.

$40M OW ?

Should be very close.

I think though we need to see how front-loaded this will be. I expect today will drop 40-50%, but given it’s Spider-Man, it should still play very well with kids and families so I’d expect the weekend to be very strong.

This doing such huge numbers despite restrictions and +80k cases of Omicron per day on UK kinda proof that people will show up no matter what for movies that they want to see.

Bodes well for next year blockbusters, movies like Batman and DS2 could be huge even with a bad environment.

Depends on if any new restrictions come in soon

If this happen, does it mean we can expect a stronger legs considering the WOM is wonderful?

difficult to say.
providing there’s no restrictions/social distancing brought in for cinemas I don’t see people wanting to see it not showing up.

Then again it might be even more front loaded than usual due to people being worried they won’t be able to see it in a week or two if they’re isolating.

legs you’d think will be good if people are having to isolate short term. Especially with nothing coming out to challenge it as competition for the foreseeable.

It would depend what the restrictions are I guess. Omicron certainly didn’t stop anyone going yesterday by the look of it.

I’d imagine yesterdays audience would be guaranteed to enjoy it. That’s why WOM amongst die hard fans is good. I doubt WOM alone for “Spider-Man 8” will bring in any new fans.

Quick look at my local:

15.00 started with 68 seats left in a 158 seater

16.30 14 left out of 84

17.30 8 left out of 158

18.30 8 left out of 158

19.00 5 left out of 207

19.30 5 left out of 143

19.50 3 left out of 96

20.00 7 left out of 84

20.10 2 left out of 56

21.00 sold out 158 seats

21.30 2 left out of 114 seats

22.00 27 left out of 158 seats

SuperScreen

15.50 200 left out of 443 seats

19.20 5 left out of 443 seats

Huge. Most of the empty seats are solo seats. Apart from that 15.50 SuperScreen showing, it’s too early. Children get out of school at 15.00-15.30.

Todays comparison at the same time of day:

15.00 108 left out of 158

16.30 40 left out of 84

17.00 97 left out of 118

17.30 63 left out of 158

18.00 43 left out of 114

19.00 63 left out of 207

19.40 52 left out of 143

19.50 45 left out of 96

20.00 65 left out of 84

20.30 79 left out of 118

21.00 46 left out of 84

21.30 86 left out of 114

Superscreen

15.50 366 left out of 444

19.20 200 left out of 444

Tickets sold for Wednesday at this point in time: 2,107

Tickets sold for Thursday at this point in time: 1,013

down -52% at my local. I highly doubt it’ll actually fall 52% on Thursday.
