Definition of epic

3: a series of events or body of legend or tradition thought to form the proper subject of an epic the epic of the winning of the West

 

It seem that the notion of heroism is too rooted in the concept for Boyhood (even if it has the temporal scope, arcs and so on).

Is Epic (2013) a Boyhood?

Yes, for one thing it is listed as an Epic-Drama. it is an epic on an emotional level at least because it, it takes places over a course of the boys entire youth and draws it's conclusion at the start of his adult life. Imo, life is pretty epic, and that movie encompasses that feeling pretty well.
