BOT's bias against animated movies has always been sad.

If a Marvel/DC/SW movie were getting a 96% RT and were releasing in 3 days it'd have more 200 pages already 😕

Just for funsies, here's a look at other threads for animated movies as well as how they placed in the top 25 for their respective years if applicable

Inside Out - 144 pages 3 days before release, #3 on the top 25

The Good Dinosaur - 104 pages

Zootopia - 61 pages, #3 on the top 25

Moana - 127 pages, #12 on the top 25

Coco - 64 pages, #11 on the top 25

Incredibles 2 - 52 pages, #20 on the top 25

Toy Story 4 - 90 pages, #11 on the top 25

Frozen II - 88 pages, #21 on the top 25

Even outside of what WandaLegion said, these threads were also made years before their release, while Raya's thread was made about a year and a half ago. Makes it easier to rack up posts. And hey, wouldn't you know it, the forum gets more traction when interesting and exciting box office happens and...we don't have any box office. Funny how that all works.

You don't have to find threads for other fanboy properties interesting, but acting passive aggressive and making up baseless claims about how the forum hates animation just because we aren't endlessly talking about the children's movies you're excited about is incredibly condescending and snobbish of you. If anything, your behavior turns people away from talking about the movies you're excited about. You're an adult, so act like one.

BoT's attendance is at the all time low since pandemic started, and raya is a original film. What do you expect people to talk about?

In fact, all the talking about movie or entertainment industry is at all-time low not only in BoT , no matter how much you claim the streaming is the future and how successful streaming replacing big screen, we all see the fact is nobody talk about the movie as passionately as before without big screen experience.

Soul reception was pretty great, one can say, yet no one talks about it anymore. One week and boom over.

Compare that with theatrical release in Korea, its still doing good numbers.

imo if movies just go to streaming, their shelf life will become shorter. They'll be like Netflix original series; one week wonder than boom they're gone.

jesus christ Raya and the Last Dragon is 114 minutes long

that's the longest of any movie from WDAS or Pixar right

edit: Nope, Cars from 2006 is longer lol.

It says 112 minutes on Disney+ for me, and the closest theatre open to me has it at 108 minutes. I'm assuming the extra minutes are there to credit the dubs for the film. For Disney+ times, there's also Incredibles 2 at 118 minutes, The Incredibles at 115 minutes, and Ralph Breaks the Internet at 116 minutes. Ratatouille comes close at 111 minutes though.

Disney really left money on the table wrt Soul in Australia. The Croods: A New Age opened the same weekend, just theatrically, and has made over $21m, not far off the first Croods. And it's still in the top 10 ten weeks later and during school time. I fully expect it to stay there until Easter. That sort of staying power is almost unheard for a kids movie.

Though Raya doesn't look like it's selling many tickets. Demon Slayer might stay ahead of it despite being in its second weekend.

May be Asutralia home media market is big enough for them to gain some subs atleast.

Well, in terms of the home video market, Trolls World Tour was out on video and still in the box office top ten at the same time. For a number of weeks even. Still not sure how that happened.

Maybe Disney is making bank with this strategy in Australia, maybe they made more than $21m with the Premiere release of Soul, it's only 700,000 copies, they may have done it. But Soul really does feel like a film that didn't even exist here.

Soul was free. 😌 So no extra revenue as such.

Not an expert in south korean box office, but thats really bad right?

Yes, really weak OD. Was clear from PS. This seems to be having troubles almost everywhere, let’s see if DOM will be an exception.
